i had about 100 turns to declare war on so and so faction and the huns..
you can do it, but it's a hell of a battle.. and you will be leaving spain and norther africa wide open to invasion while your armies rush to secure the victory location in northern greece of the migrator starting factions.
this time i'm taking a portion of eastern greece and then taking out the rest of the eastern roman empire in turkey... holdings constantinople as a choke hold and surrounding that area with freed nations.
Bottlenecks, fertility, and easy winters. Way out of the reach of the huns with the ability to control the straights of gibraltar gives dominance of trade leaving the med.
Puts you slightly out of the reach of the western European chaos, with an easy route to get involved if you so choose.
Recources arnt bad either, but you could go for Greece in General as you can use Navy to secure also, and add too that Bottleneck the crossing from were the Gepids area is, and the Western are 2-3 groups you can also easly keep..
Greece area and Anatolian area I prefer as its very Central on the Map as a whole and you can spread evenly into the West and East without having to travel from say Spain right over for to long
A single army in Alexandria secured my eastern border, leaving me free to focus all my energy moving west across Africa, mopping up scattered desert tribes and rioting Roman settlements. Another army positioned at the straitts of Gibaltor and my empire was a fortress. A very rich, fertile fortress. As for the Huns...never encountered them. My rivals sure had a hell of a time, though.
Really awesome start points can be the middle east(or africa) for fertility, believe that or not and it is highly secluded and protects you with the harsh desert around. Spain is meh, because you would soon be surrounded by settling idiots plagued with problems down the road. It really is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to defend, there are too many ports in that peninsula to worry about.
