To a degree, its well known that they didnt like evolution if they couldn't control it, alchemy was one of those forbidden pratice that was punished by death penalty if practiced ,they liked to control the mass and educated mass that think for themselves arent good. imperial library.why on earth i cant make them after researching some catholic research then ? :) anyway
i think the west is fine having it the same as the east would be boring too many same units already and buildings.
And why sanitation is forbidden after certain catholic research?.. appearently you dont need to bath if you are a good christian lol
Oh yes I heard something about it: it has something to do with the Christian research tech being antithetical to the 'pagan' sanitation and entertainment research
pretty stupid Just let us keep all the tech
As if late antique Christians by nature want to swim in their own filth......
They should stop reading Eduard Gibbon right now!
As long as you have enough water for baptism, it is ok :)
The thing that im seeing in this post, is that you want the WRE to be as the Roman republic of Rome 2, which it isnt...and it shoudnt. It isnt a failed game mechanic because you dont like it, its working as intended and while you dont like it me and other love it. From the technological aspect, I agree, there are many technologies that "damage" but they are sometimes worth the cost, as at the same time they will unlock later techs which are actually good. And in the words of the devs, the tech trees are based on reality, CA didnt invent those units, that army progression is realistic you like it or not.
This is the fall of the roman empire, you will have to struggle if you want to survive or even conquer the map, face the challenges they faced in reality with hordes, corruption, bad management, overextension etc.. and stop whining.
Radious Total War mod is the one to go for if you want a change. It disables the ''disabling of technology''/Changes the techtree logic.
there you have your answer. stop whining.
So... basically you want the same as you would do playing Rome II TW, but paying for a new game.
I'm not saying nothing about Radious. I haven't play with it yet, but I assume it is great, just as former Radious mods. I'm saying that making the game easier and turning it into another Rome II with some darker graphics is not what many people want (me among them)
Is historically accurate (more or less), that's all. The roman culture is being forgotten and substituted by christianity. This era is called the dark ages for some reason...
Radious seems to make the game too easy. Units are way to cheap. At least in the current version for Attila. Has some cool units though. Other than that I feel it dumbs the game down a bit.
It might make it too easy, but at least you will be able to create armies with higher tier units that do not cost almost 7000 in upkeep. You also don't have buildings that consume 200 food which is ridiculous.
I think he should double his current upkeep costs or at least increase them by 50%. I have high-level armies in Rome 2 that cost around 3000-4000 in upkeep, even with his mod on. That is more manageable than the current vanilla costs, while not feeling as much like cheating as his current mod does.
