No Suebi Units for Alamans?
"Alamanni" was just the name foreigners gave them. In-game they are described as "successors to the Suebi" but the fact is that they WERE the Suebi, but only they called themselves that. Since "Suebi" means "our people" it wouldn't make sense for foreigners to call them that. For some reason there's also the Suebians faction, separate from the Alamans faction.

Anyway, it really bugs me that the Vandals get a Suebi noble swords unit, and Suebi shock cavalry, but for some reason the REAL Suebi don't? It would make sense from an authenticity standpoint, but more importantly it would help round out their roster a bit.

CA games have never been historically accurate and you can't expect some British studio to be well-versed in the history of German tribes. I'm sure the Total Realism team will fix that sooner or later.

Historical accuracy aside (considering that CA is trying to make an entertaining game, not an educational experience) I just feel that the new DLC factions have somewhat sparse rosters, which could be augmented by borrowing from some of the other german factions. The Alamans basically get three tiers of the same spear mob, some fancy nobles, and a couple of borrowed roman units. The Burgundians get some gimmicky ranged units, some axemen and dogs. The Langobards probably got the best draw, with some very aggressive swordsmen, the heavily armored clubs, and the horse hewers.

I guess that's about as many unique units as some of the other factions get, maybe a bit less considering how many of those units are just upgrades of others. But I think I was hoping that factions which require you to pay for them would have more unique playstyles. Perhaps I'll feel differently after playing each of those factions after a few more hours.

The vandals get Suebian units.

The actual Suebi went to Spain along with the vandals. However the Suebian kingdom as they became known weren't too fond of the vandals.

It might be pointless talking about the "actual" Suebi. From what I've read, the tribe really split up during the migration period, with most joining the Alans and Vandals, and some staying with the Alamans east of the Rhine. Considering how many vanilla factions share units, I think it would be fair for the two suebi-specific units to go to the Alamans, while still also being available to the Vandals.
