Plus the instant you fight a hard battle and try to use their lands to recover (increased replenishment) they will betray you and attack your weak forces.
Seems better to just erradicate them instead.
Oh and every single second you spend within their field of view they will be spamming agent actions against your armies, the overlord should be able to force them to stop that kind of crap even if they had to kill their entire royal family to be taken seriously.
Now all I see is destroyed cities by the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horders or what ever they're called....
Totally agree with Creamy Cakes, You just need to learn how to use them, i use them all the time to hold the borders of Western Rome.
That said Puppet states are automatically forced to join wars or break away, i think the same with satrapies from memory. If they break away just kill them again and re-subjugate because it's considered a type of "Deal" and gives a postive attitude. also when you re-subjugate they are automatically at war with whoever you are, wich also gives positive attitude. I've easily converted enemies of mine this way and turned them on their former freinds :-)
Tributaries are a little different but the same general principles apply, personally i prefer the other types.
