Defence towers OP
is it just me or are the defence towers (even in the small barbaric villages) OP as duck? They shoot arrows across the map! I send a unit of cav to capture it to end the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and the tower kills EVERY SINGLE ONE of them Oo

Why would you send mounted men to capture a strong point?

What are they going to do? Climb the stairs and burn it with their horses? Send light troops that have actual bonuses when capturing points...

Towers are exactly where they need to be now, high defensive points with dedicated archers that are in cover. Not the joke from previous TW games.

They are deadlier than in Rome 2 but their accuracy is pretty bad. I think making them this way is an alright balancing decision, since CA made being the defender harder in this game (moral penalties, siege damage and all)

I actually cannot agree with that, first off their radius of attack is insanely high, and the amount of them in a single village is ridiculous.
I like the towers

In Rome 2 it looks like there where 2-3 archers in the tower meant for 50. Now it's more true to the actual numbers you would put in :)

Maybe that's where my issue with them lie, for Roman cities it would make sense that defensive towers would be a major pain in the ass, but for Celtic or Gothic cities? That's where it just doesn't make any sense to me >.<
i kind of agree with you i sent cav to burn the towers down with torches and i still had to send archers with fire arrows to take it down

i think the range should be reduced a bit its a little high

That would definitely help, my main issue has been the range combined with the amount of towers. Too much overlap

you dont use horses to capture towers..Attila's towers are fine for me.

the buff they gave defensive towers in this game made me super happy. shogun 2 and rome 2 had horrible defensive structures. It literally made zero impact upon how id seige a city. but know when i attack a city i focus on those tower, i take the time to burn my enemies cities and villages. defensive towers do mediocre damage with meh accuracy but it never runs out of ammo. so creating a bottleneck or a frontline wall between defensive towers can really help suprisingly. it never stops shooting.

agreed cavalry in atilla isnt a capture heavy unit like in rome 2 and shogun 2, i use wolf coats, i believe the nordic, germanic and gothic factions can all get them. they run almost forever, recover very fast and they capture points extra fast. meh melee fighters.

yeah they are very strong. i still dont know if thats bad or good though

If you have catapaults hit them with some nice flame/pitch and boom.....burn baby burn....no more tower problem :)

Dont use mounted troops to capture.....they arent suited to the job. Use a unit that has a degree of missile protection my friend or an ability to counter.

Trust me when an huge enemy AI army hits your lightly defended town and your main armies are off conquering and you have only Mr Rubbish general and his lily livered rag tag army to defend your town......those towers become your very best friends and you will learn to love them!

Embrace them mate.....
