How many units with female soldiers are there?
So this game looks to be surprisingly good judging by reviews and player feedback. I'm thinking about getting it at full price myself. I'd like to know how many female units there are though since the addition of women as an active, offensive part of ancient warfare is unrealistic an immersion breaking to me (i'm not asking you to agree with me - to each his own).

How many units is it? Is it only low tier units? only ranged etc? I may consider holding off until someone mods them out if they're too numerous.

Cheers and happy gaming.

Reverse Political Correctness mods for the win. That aside; idk yet. It probably varies by faction; Rome having none, Vikings having warmaidens scattered in here and there.

Are the Warmaidens melee troops? I may tolerate ranged units as female even though thats a stretch as well.

Well I didnt yet go in depth with every faction, but so far I've only seen some women mixed into the barbarian low-tier-melee-units and some missile units. Although I haven't seen them in barbarian low-tier-spear-units, maybe to emphazise the purpose of "holding-the-line" for spear units, just guessing. More professional armies/units seem to have no women at all.

many units have women in them.. even from diferent factions.
Look closely ( zoom in ) in fights.

Barbaric/norse factions have them. As far I saw, there are about a quarter of women in basic troops only.

Yes a lot of the barbarian factions have them sprinkled in the units......i thought it was quite refreshing for a change. You can sometimes hear them shouting etc.

Get this game mate, it really is good.

sexist

Hopefully, someone at TWcenter will create a mod to remove women from combat and i'll get the game :) It does look really good. Thanks for the responses. Also this is about historical accuracy and not sexism nosuchname.

I get your point but I have not encountered any "female units" they are just scattered across as a minority in regular, low tier, barbarian units. Whether it is accurate or not, it does help add to the feel of migration and finding a new home.

TW and historical accuracy lololol. you dont even notice the women...bet your pc is too weak to zoom in all the time anyhow (because seems like everones is right now)

The whole idea of women mingling with the men in those units is absurd, I don't think that ever really happened this way. They need to change that along with whatever else they are going to patch and remove it.

If people want historical accuracy they should play Crusader Kings II. Nothing is lost with women fighting alongside men in Attila.

They're probably not going to do that. CA cares more about conforming to modern genderr standards than to portray History correctly. As a major history/archaeology buff i know i'm not the kind of guy they cater to. Hence, i hope for modders to fix this as they've fixed other of CAs mistakes in the past.

And you're entirely right in saying that women did not participate in the fighting in late antiquity to any regular extent. In that sense, Attila is closer to Fantasy than historical fiction. It says more about us - and our ideas of what constitutes 'gender equality' - than it says about the past. As such games like this will probably be an excellent resource in understanding 21st century feminism for the scholars of the future.

They went by years and past events through the years, they are shooting for 'historical accuracy'.
