Which Version or best DLC's to buy?
Hello Folks.

I've read a lot of good things about Attila TW and was thinking of giving it a try.

Can anybody tell me which version or packs of this game I should be buying?

I've been looking around various sites to try and find a GOTY with all DLC etc but can't seem to find anything.
Not that worried about cosmetics anyway or overdone blood splatter but wanted a version with a few additional (good) campaigns maybe.

Also I just bought MTW2 again. Any recommendations for the absolute best/stable and up to date MODs for both. Not interested in fantasy.

Many thanks.

The 2 campaign packs are both good. The culture packs are nice to have but not really needed. However, buying the bundle is the way to go imo...

Some really great overhaul mods for this game as well, so there are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay once you do the main campaign and the 2 others.

One of my favs, but there are quite a few really good ones.

Having a lot of fun with the Age of Charlemagne Campaign Pack cant remember if theres also sub-faction DLCs for it but i would recommend it personally, a lot of fun mods are made for that DLC too.
Hello Daedrius, thanks for the reply.

I should have said I saw the Collection version here on Steam and thought surely I was missing something i.e. pricey bundle for an older game!

Seems it's still all fragmented into DLC packs to maximise profit :(

I will check out that mod though.

Cheers.
Hi Lyntyz
I was just looking into that one a little while ago, thanks.

There are two types of DLCs:
  • Culture Packs, that add playable factions
  • Campaign Packs, that add new campaigns

For Culture Packs, it's hard to recommend a specific one. Pick the one you like the most.
Empires of Sand DLC is probably the best.

For Campaign Packs, there are:
  • Age of Charlemagne: a campaign set in Middle Ages. It's a good DLC, that adds more diversity to this game. You can play as the huge Kingdom of Charlemagne, the viking Danes, the islamic Emirate of Cordoba, the Kingdom of Mercia in Britannia and others.
    Personally I like this DLC.
  • The Last Roman, a campaign set after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire.
You can play as the Roman Expedition to reconquer former roman lands of Africa and Europe. While it's cool to play as a Roman Expedition, I feel that this DLC is too similar to the Grand Campaign in terms of units and factions.

You're welcome. I was saying the bundle is worth it because buying the bundle is like buying 3 different games, Attila, The Last Roman, and Age of Charlemange. Attila stand alone game is pretty great but for 5 more dollars you get a heck of a lot more.
Hello MaxCrow thanks for the detailed reply.
Seems Age of Charlemagne is the one to go for from what I've read here and checking out the web. Will maybe just buy the base game and then that one next.
Makes sense to wait for sales, prices become more reasonable.
The whole collection on STEAM sale is usually 70%, the game 75%, the DLCs 66%.
