Sure hope if he does you can start a rebellion and then pave Rome with his soldiers breastplates.

How does that happen? Is it because of relations with roman empire? Or is it caused by something else? Is that an event? pls more info

I had this, it only said the Roman Empire retaliates, in some manner it stated the Roman Empire had became powerful enough to attack or crush their enemies once again, I had around 50'ish relation with them, and I did not do anything bad. I had played for quite a bit tough.

And what happens then? Game over? Or what?

No, the AI is butthurt as always. What will happen is that they declare war on you, nothing else happends, you can still continue, I dont belive you can peace them out. I was thinking it was a bug, but probably due to AI logic, I only had 50+ relations anyways.

Just to be sure, you did not settle? You were still loyal, right?

I am unsure. Classic question "Is that a bug or feature"?

The question we all ask in recent CA games.

It might be scripted since Justinian wouldn't want Belisarius to become more popular than himself. It's either war or assassination/imprisonment. Bel was imprisoned upon his return to ERE.

And after his imprisonement Justinian made Belisarius free again to fight something I don't remember, maybe the langobards.
Imagine we would be romans! :D

Belisarius and Justinian were "buddies" to the death. It's just that others didn't like Justinian having such a good, loyal and popular general, as if he wasn't popular enough by himself. Of course, Justinian didn't give a crap about the trials, he was the emperor after all, and he released his good buddy. Then they shared some fine wine and laughed at everybody because they could. "Judges", Justinian said. "Trials", he continued. He almost choked on the wine because of all the chuckling, but it was not to be. It was not his time to die. His time was 3 years later, after many more golden chalices of wine. Anyways, probably a weird glitch due to how the game and the AI work.

I had not settled, I were not that loyal, I had taken some 3-4 events that are counted as disloyal but good to the cause of Justinian in the long term, It might have triggered it, but I am not sure. I had 50+ relation and I were still a horde/expeditionary force, I sat in Africa and boom he decided to boot me out of the ''League'', such a waste of Roman forces in my mind.

But considering AI, this could be due to mods, the state of the Roman Faction, they had their newly received settlements really upgraded and shiny, I doubt it was my mods anyways, since the AI is still as dumb as in Grand Campain.

Was there any event, any announcement (if yes pls screenshot)? Or just normal declaration of war? Also could you afterwards still restore captured towns to roman empire?
