Best DLC to Buy if Any?
I'm just wondering what the overall consensus is as to what the best DLC is for Atilla. I might buy one DLC at the most if it's actually not a complete waste of money like most Total War DLCs seem to have been lately. Also, would it be better to buy a DLC, wait later for another DLC, or get no DLC at all? If so, why?

the celts DLC contains the most features added to the grand campain, where as the last roman adds a new campain entirely. I havnt played the last roman much, but for some reason or another find naval battles with that one tribe in ireland to be fun.

Blood and burning makes battle animations a little more interesting. Reminds me of Shogun 2, sans DLC. Vikings I got because I just had to play the Geats (read Beowulf once, with great effort), and I got Celts too because I just had to play Picts (I like Macbeth, plus ancestry). I'm liking the Picts so far. They have some good early game axe berserkers that can tear it up when they get "out of control", which is pretty badass compared to routing.

Note that if you play as Celts you can construct a booley in the agricultural chain. It will produce 150 food regardless of climatic change. If you play as vikings, meager soils and near permafrost forces you to move south for expansion. You can keep your capital, but you're going to need to get some land down south if you want to settle and build much. I like that though, it's historical.

In Dan Carlin's Hardcore History he has mentioned old Roman accounts of the migrating northern tribes migrating in large numbers and even their women screaming into battle, because the survival of the tribe was at stake--there was no place to go back to. I liked playing as the vikings but if you do remember the words to Zepplin's Immigrant Song:

We come from the land of the ice and snow,
From the midnight sun where the hot springs flow.
The hammer of the gods will drive our ships to new lands,
To fight the horde, singing and crying: Valhalla, I am coming!

On we sweep with threshing oar, Our only goal will be the western shore!

"Out of the mist of history he'll come again.
Sailing on ships across the sea to a wounded nation
Signs of a savior like fire on the water
It's what we prayed for, one of our own

Just wait though wide he may roam
Always, a hero comes home
He goes where no one has gone
But always a hero comes home"

I really liked the Last Roman campaign. It seems like the enemy factions like huge multistack battles more, and there are "RPG" elements that are enjoyable, especially if you know the story of Belusarius and friends. The only downside for some people may be that as a horde faction you may not have a lot to do every single turn in the mid game and again in the late endgame as you wait for your expeditionary forces to grow enough population to build what you need. Of course, that may not be the case if you don't go the historical route and decide to take Rome for yourself.

I liked the viking DLC, and I have the Celt DLC but I haven't played enough with it to make any judgements. I also bought the blood DLC when it was on sale but it really is just minor eye candy.

the last roman is fun but it lacks new units and its a bit overpriced in my opinion
