Invasion is supposed to be unexpected and deadly.
BTW Their troops are no match for Romans.
Ah I see...in 540 AD the Langobards invaded my northern territories of Italy. Message popped up like yours in Africa and hey presto! They are visible in the Alpes and are no horde. Only noticed a few turn before, that their symbol appeared in the turn faction logos.
Now I have to deal with them.

Well, Romans tried to negotiate with them before they invaded, it's written in the message box, it's a good reason to give a warning message. And i had only starting troops, they are not that good.
>If you are playing the campaign correctly the emperor goves you 2 armies to deal with them.
I founded my own empire from turn one, had to struggle with bancrupcy, hunger, deseases etc.
This campaign is hard going independent.I downgrade my horde buildings before I attack.
This campaign might pan out at year 536.
I hate that they have to add in these factions spawning out of thin air the most annoying addition to tw ever no strategy just bam instant armies at your doorstep out of thin air.
My reinforcements were being spawn camped by navel fleets, everytime they spawned they instantly died. Great idea ca spawn land units in the water gg.
had to do it just right to where the enemy keeps their units in ships in order to win against the garrison.
the game doesnt go the way you want it too...but then war never does...
in this campaign being independent is harder then what we all expect....I think they should add more money into it and make the costs on everything lower..
