Kingdom of Saxony?
So playing the Westphalia campaign, this objective tells me to carve out a great kingdom, with a great bonus for doing so! The problem is this objective would have me backstabbing all my friends and allies, rather than taking the fight to Charlamagne.

Shouldn't the Saxons be more concerned with Frankish lands rather than fighting their kin?

Look at the Saxons today here in Germany - many of them are fighting/rebelling against their own Country.
Do you ever think, People changed? :)

Lol, Sachsen-Anhalt to be exact and they are no real saxons! Haven't seen one seax on them, pathetic ;).

United Germany that we know today is actually relatively new in world history. I think Germans only united under Bismark in the 19th century. Which means yes, it seems Germans were fighting among themselves for a very long time.

it gives you 400 years to complete that, if you want to. so the question is? will charlamegne repay for the verdict of verden?

you can always choose where to expand and when? :p

Makes sense, right now Charlamagne is just kicking my ass way too much to even think about anything else!

Yep in my campaign I first focused on beating back Charlamagne then I was able to safely backstab my pagan allies 1 by 1 until I made the Kingdom of Saxony

honestly I think what you should do as westphila and sack and lib that team on the first turn then build a 2nd gen back at your base build up your troops and go take the city of bremen and hamburg then take either eastphalia or take over the obodrite then you will be in a good spot to fight the franks, plus pushing into frank lands right of would be a bad idea like the public order issues with diff religions plus the franks having a much greater income. plus with that lib team and angria you have a buffer while taking out the other teams.

early game you don't notice is much but later on it will drag you into civil war if your are not overly carful, I got pulled into one while fighting the franks then I beat it, then another one happen right away, was a pain to say the least. norse are so good though you can steamroll in pretty much which ever way you want, you can go south and rekt all the teams below you, you can go to england and take over the isles or you can go and rekt the franks best starting location to date ^_^

They are much better in co-op campagin cause you don't get the debuffs or missions :D

Man I just feel bad backstabbing my Saxon brethren! Plus, how can I go raiding my Eastern neighbors when that prick Charlamagne is always at my doorstep! And I tried liberating Frisia, but the Franks obliterated his army.

I'm seriously contemplating my next try going after Mercia and the British Isles, saying ♥♥♥♥ all to France and Germany. Charly can kiss my ass!

Lol yah, I read some people were having an easy time of it but obviously I need to tone it down a notch. It's just no fun rolling over the stupid AI on lower difficulties

Not sure if anyone mentioned this but, after liberating Frisia/Burgund , you could focus on carving out a new homeland in the East. This allows you to sacrifice your original two regions and some of your allies to the Franks while you build a soild base. Later, you can swing back West and scoop up all the provinces your starting allies have lost to Charlemange while they acted as buffer states for you. Muahahaha

That sounds like the best idea. Let someone else deal with Charlamagnes doom stacks!

Which territory is Burgundy though?
