It seems their starting positions are messed up. In every historic article or map Antes are localized most to the east as ancestor of russia and sclavenii to be first to raid balkans

I think they are positioned where they are for gameplay reasons....a lot of things in this game are ahistorical for that reason, that's why you get 6th century roman cavalry in the fourth century...
