What Exactly Makes The Geats So Powerful?

I haven't gotten around to playing them yet, but every Grand Campaign I've played so far, they have averaged a strength rating between first a third place, so I thought I'd do some cheating just to observe what they're doing. By turn 35, they usually have control of at least one city on the British Isle, a city in Normandy, and in one instance, they got as far as landing in Northern Spain and begun raiding. By turn 100, they control all of Britain, every northern coastal province, and appear to have a bipolar attitude towards the Slavic factions, attacking them in one game or forming alliances in another. By turn 150, it's usually down to them and both Roman Empires for super powers, and everyone else is a non-issue, even the Huns.

If they had the same bonuses the Danes have in the Charlamaigne DLC, which doubles the distance embarked armies can travel, I could see them getting that expansive, but they only get cold weather attrition immunity. The only thing I can think of being the culprit to them being so powerful is that the AI doesn't care about seasonal effects and fights battles in winter, killing their armies more than their enemies can.

Anyone have experience playing them that can help shed some light on what makes them so powerful?

Well when i was playing as the geats i had a hard time winning ranged battles because they can only recruit nordic bows, slingers and skirmishers. Horse archers just torn the army apart time after time because the bows didnt have enough range and i couldn't catch the horse archers.

If you can get some horse archers or crossbows and target their berserkers before they get to your lines you'd probably stand alot better chance.

In my recent campaign the geats escaped and resettled just a bit north of rome, idk how they are killing rome so easily because when i tried to take one of romes settlements i was met with an entire roman legion 5000 soldiers.

But when the ai attacks rome they dont even muster one army, just willingly get steam rolled.

Now that i'm fighting against the geats as the franks they seem to like to spam armies in waves one after another, so it forces me to sit in my towns because the second i leave a magical invisible army comes to take it back.

They weren't even full stacks just half stacks to constantly annoy you, then finally a full stack when your weak. And they like to liberate things they capture making it all the more annoying for you, i've had to kill gual 10+ times because the geats keep bringing them back.
