Tips for attila?
So im getting rather flustered with this game. I have 1163 hours on rome 2 and consider myself pretty good and I normally play on hard so i thought a campaign on easy in attila would be a breeze. However its so freaking hard. Ive been playing as the Saxsons, first campaign i invaded England went well at first then out then out of no where i am attacked by every faction in the British isles as well and 2 factions from the main land. I was facing like 8 stacks coming from all sides. So i began a new camping this time i stayed on the main lain, again things went well i conquered the Franks and the Danes in Denmark and not two turns later all the factions in the British isles declare war with another 6-8 stacks sailing for my kingdom. Its on easy?? I guess my question is why do so many nations declare war so quickly with out me even provoking them? Any tips would be helpful.

I think the key to correctly expanding is surrounding yourself with the right sort of rulers. If you take out all the nations likely to ally with you and you're left with nothing but treacherous expansionists or w/e then you're gonna have a hard time. Btw playing as the saxons your religion is germanic paganism while all of the barbarian tribes in britain are celtic paganism so they begin adverse to you.

Also another tip could be declaring war on an unliked nation. E.g. the most obvious one would be Rome. Declaring war on rome gets you in pretty damn good with all the barbarian tribes. The flip side to that would be declaring war on a nation with strong relations with others would be a bad idea.

As Saxon I abandoned my starter settlement and went straight for the picts. Beat them converted to celtic paganism then slowly made my way through the isles then went through wre and took back old settlement.

You're playing way too aggressive.

I just posted in another thread about this.

Rome II is a joke. That game is ridiculously easy.

If that's where you got all your training from, then it's bad training.

You will get destroyed if you don't play smart in this game. That means, don't throw your weight around with your military just because you think you're tough.

Diplomacy and wealth are key in this game. You need powerful allies.

You can't just hulk smash your way across the map, and gobble up land.

#1 trick from a legendary god - learn to bait the AI into attacking really strong defensive settlements, if you have enough melee to shield wall 1-2 chokes (3-5 units with shieldwall, although shieldwall is not neccesary; unit size set to ultra), and 4-6 ranged units + a general (so like 8-11 units approximately) you should be able to defend the settlement from a 20stack army decisively. If you have to many units, including the garrison, you risk the aggressor sieging you instead - you do not want this.

P.S Germanic, Celtic, and Slavic settlements (walled and unwalled) are all the same and the strongest in the game; the VERY strongest settlement to defend is the Langobard starting settlement IMO, copies of this settlement exist elsewhere in the world as well. If you have one of these settlements, you can use it as a means of securing a flank because you can defend it with very very few troops.

Uninstall it. The Devs blew the entire difficulty system and campaign Ai. People will tell you Diplomacy and money are must haves.....The Ai still makes nonsensical decisions as well as how they utilize their forces. Why do the Picts send 3 stacks down to Southern Italy while they are also fighting the Caldonians? And Yes each only have 1 settlement next to each other in Scottland and Northumbria.

So if you wanna faceroll over non emersive arcade style play by all means continue down your path.
