Oh, They are AWESOME. I do not doubt this at all. I LOVE them. My only complaint about them is that it is a bit anti-role playing when you have 15 elite units in an army, but I lvoe using Seniores.
However, they require multiple techs to get. Comitatensis Spears is easy to get early game without negleting civic technologies.
And my point was that despite the stats not improving much, Comitatensis Spears seems to make life so much easier. I feel that I can focus on the economy once I unlock them.
I know right? They are good at buying time and can hold out for awhile. You can't transfer them from one side of the battlefield to the other to plug a gap like celtic spears can, but if you put Comitatensis Spears in deployment where they need to go, they can do stuff.
