[HUGE DISCOVERY] Optimize Attila to ToB level
Couple of days ago I finally made a huge discovery how to bring ToB optimization level to Attila.

ToB is supposed to be a DLC pack for Attila, but CA decided to release it as a standalone version to make more money. The problem is, with the release of ToB, Attila didn't receive the update of optimization it should've received with that DLC. Instead, we have unoptimized Attila and a new game, basically modded Attila.

In order to make your Attila work like ToB, you have to manually delete and replace shaders inside data.pack and blood.pack.

Follow this guide:

@samael75

It IS a bit strange that the ToB shaders worked until the update. They have worked since release.

LMAO,yes they droped this big patch they planed for months just to screw you over.

you are right, they droped this patch to update the game. BUT they also, for above mentioned reason, decided to make shaders not to work with Attila.

may I ask, why exactly you laughing your ass off? What's so funny? You laughing at me or my work? Passive aggressiveness is for weak and If you want to confront me, do it clearly. I don't think there is something funny with shaders, modding, game updates or people who are trying to improve the game. At least I tried and will always be trying. And what did you do exactly?

Sure i can explain,im laughing at your delusions and tinfoiling. They couldnt care less.Is this enough aggressive?

Yes, thank you. I don't agree with you, I speak FAX. Do you have anything to prove your point?

OK I think the patch and shaders were planned to improve performance, but it wouldnt be the first time devs have made sure a mod or patch they didnt make no longer works. After all since the mods for the game are mostly table additions and changes, its rather pointless the way they have changed the tables rather than just adding the new material to the bottom of the content table, which would have made mods remain active without changes unless the game gets a major change.

Samael75 Have you ever followed CA?

Whenever DEI (Largest and super popular overhaul for Rome 2) introduced fully custom made faction to the game, for free ofc. A bit later CA made dlc for that exact same faction which locked the custom made faction for everyone who did not buy the dlc.

Those DEI factions were quality work while CA's factions are cheap copy paste units.

This same story happened for many times during Rome 2 lifespan.

Just so you know there is no way they intended just those exact factions/cultures to be playable lol. Rome 2 has hundreds of factions and just magically the certain ones were made for dlc only.

But i dont think the latest patch was intentionally used to aim this guide.

no it did not, they just put "exlusive" shaders during the work on optimization, you know, silently, if it was always like that

the only thing that will change my mind, if they will release similar patch for Attila, that's it

As I said before I really dont think they will do any major reworking and yes it could be they are making sure this old horse doesnt get free performance upgrades via your hard work.

does the new shaders in TOB improve performance or is it the same?.

First of all ,no need to get salty. Your work is appreciated. And second, this is not how it works. You made a statement, and burden of proof is on you.I can just sit and do nothing.

I have tons of hours in DEI. Not sure what faction you talking about. There are unique DEI factions like edetani, scordisci, etc. I dont see CA jumping on those.Weird, must be diffrent company or something.

I already made my point, there is no burden for me to do anything and I am not being salty. Thank you for speaking your mind.

WhyXelsink thank you for your effort its a shame when illogical changes by the company that make a game mess with things like this, I have redistributed the original loader directory contents many times because some machines wont run the new game loader for some reason, it messed up the loading of mods, the old loader just works.

You are welcome, but don't get me wrong. I'm glad they updating ToB, improving the game, improving optimization. Im just disappointed they had to make those "silent-break-everything" changes to files on purpose. But I am optimistic about the future, I just feel that Attila going to receive improvement update soon.

ressurecting the thread to talk about possible ways to still make this idea work!.

if WhyXelsink reads this.

I have a question did you try this using rome 2 as the doner program for the shaders?
WhyXelsink Apr 14, 2019 @ 1:51pm
hey, Steve

yes, the reason why they will not work is because Attila was released after Rome 2. Please, read description, there is information how to still make it work. Have a nice day, bro!

I didnt know if the last updates to Rome 2 updated the shaders?.

and I am one of the few people that couldnt test the theory for performance I get good performance anyway.

can you roll back to earlier revisions with ToB?.Like you can with attila. and its good to hear you are still around.
