Total War: ATTILA

Freezes all the Time
Hi, first of all my specs:
- NVidia GTX 970
- AMD FX-8350
- 16GB DDR3 Ram
- Primary Disk, SSD 120GB with OS (Win7)and the most important applications (Steam etc.)
- Secondary Disk, HDD 2TB with Attila
So, now my problem. When i start the game, during the intro, during the game (mainly Campaign) and sometimes even in battles my game randomly freezes. The freeze is not "total" since i can still hear audio in the background and move my mouse but the image is static. Normally this only lasts about a minute or so and then i can continue the game like normal, but this still makes it basically unplayable since it happens quite often :steamsad:.
I tried out quiet some things:
- Reinstall/update GPU drivers
- Verify integrity of game files
- Reinstalled the Game (also deleted the Attila file via %appdata%)
- Optimized Graphics settings ingame and in the NVidia Controll panel (shadows, trees, grass and all the cpu intensive settings on low)
- looked for conflicts with my virus scanner
- defragmented my hard-disks
- run the game in windowed mode
Apperantly none of this seems to work. Please, if anyone has some advice i´d be very thankfull.

EDIT: I dont know if this helps but ROME II runs perfectly fine. No Crashes at all good fps, even with higher settings. Actually Attila is the only game where i encountered those issues, everything else works good.

EDIT2: Meanwhile i went to a new OS (WIN10). Completely wiped both disks and installed windows 10 clean/from scratch. Problem still stays the same.

Been long since you flushed out ♥♥♥♥ from your motherboards heatsinks ? cleaned beneath fan? dusted the psu ? blowed the old motherboard?

(pressurized air.)

Well, it's been a bit since then but I checked and there's almost nothing.

I've got the same issue, never had it in any other total war game. It's annoying but at least not game breaking. Would be nice to know if you find a fix though.

Yea it is playable but still extremely frustrating. Don't worry I'll let you know if I find a solution.

Is there a program thats running on the background? i Have had freezes in Attila and Warhammer total war when there was a muted youtube video running for a long period of time minimized in the background. It froze sometimes it goes true the freeze and i could keep playing, sometimes it froze and then it crashed after couple of minutes. But after i closed the video everything was good again, its what i have had, don't know its the same thing but I know total war games can be very hard on the processor and maybe something is eating up memory, im not a computer expert. I also remember few years ago people had trouble with Rome 2 freezing up because of Nvidea experience if im not mistaken. It can also be because of newer Windows 10 updates some games do pretty weird things after a Windows 10 update. Sorry for the long text but just a few things i remember. I hope you find a solution, there must be one! Good luck.
