Would of loved if CA actually showed this by having less churches, with maybe some burnt down churches. More pagan sites like stone circles, and just some more cosmetics that isn't Christian. Even if it was just crosses repurposed to look like thors hammer or something.

Basically he putting in a bunch of time "albiet for fun" and what would increase and provide more immersion for his gameplay would be some sort of noticble change that proves what he is doing is unique for that playthrough. It increases re-playability and is kinda cool imo

Love the game, but its just little stuff like this that should be included as fan service. In his game/historical timeline he is basically trying to get rid of christian influence and revert to the old religion. Would of been cool to see some map changes, and cosmetic changes to kinda go along with this

Not possible without extensive modding.

That's just.how the historical landscape was. Christian churches across the Roman world were not going to just all vaporize because the Emperor decided to be a pagan. As for the military units, even before Constantine the Great the Christian religion was prevalent throughout the army, and this went into overdrive after Diocletian proclaimed the religion as official. A very large prorportion of the Goths and foederati in the army had embraced Arianism, and so ChrIstian symbols were organic to them and were not to be decided by decree from the center anyway.

A pagan Emperor would not have been able to just remove the symbolism from the army culture, which was very covetous and superstitious of its symbols and standards.

There wouldn't have really been anything to replace Christian symbols on the shields and such anyway: the imperial eagle, icon of the Emperor, and the SPQR banner all had remained, so there was nothing to reinstate as far as those went, because they had never went away.

Meanwhile, there was no single "Graeco-Roman Pagan" icon or symbol, because this paganism was a collection of hundreds of cults and rites with regional deities and patron gods; it wasn't a single, institutionalized religion.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That's the idea! Helps because the Huns cause a negative 10 morale to all Christian faction's units.

So your standard Legio, and Spearmen go from a morale count of 34 to 24, and thus will almost insta-route when engaged.

It was a priority of mine, and ultimately what lead to my ability to win as the WRE.

There is a very good mod called Roman Rebirth where you are given a choice between having your Empire keep Christianity or revert in to Roman paganism. Each choice has it's own unique buildings and units.
