I've seen one of those
Consider this: sassanids don't have any spear infantry at Tier Gold.
Their melee infantry is usually (sogdians and dalamites) weaker than Legio or heavy infantry in general.
The only strong point is their cavalry and numbers but if you costrain them to fight you in cities ( i remember that one of three cities in Osrene maybe Amida has a really interesting city map with tons of bottles necks and similar) you can easily destroy all their stacks without great effort.
The reconquest is quite difficult anywhay, their garrison are usually enormous.
But after that you had made a good empire and a good economy you can crash them in 10/20 turns.
Anywhay withe Huns in same cases, especially at the begginning, destroy always at least a puppet state (usually Pathia) and burn to the ground a couple of sassanids cities.
Cringe
Sassynigs only real claim to relavence is the strategic boni that they get. It is also easy to exploit. Use the huns/white huns to raze their satrapies or do it yourself. Without income from satrapies the only thing you must do is scream DEUS VULT over and over again as you make them disappear.
But even without AI fails i dont think they are OP. They are just f*cking huge so it'll take a while to take them out.
However what nobody has mentioned is that they do seem to have very large garrisons as compared to all the other factions, i dont really undestand why that is.
I took quite a bit of territory during the war. Later on they declared war on my client state Africa and a second war happened, used a newly raised army to destroy the Lakhamids capital and Sassinds capital. Pushing their other allies, Sassinids are easy to defeat if you know how to do it.
So I hadots of horse archers some infantry and melee cavalry and ambushed them alot my campaign ended on like 200 odd turns had long bloody war with them the key to beating them is ambush them alot and take out the puppet states sack cities and raze them don't conquer unless u have sufficient force to hold it and prepare to launch more attacks on them
So badly made game because the Sass-AI is using their only real strong troops, cavalry? Should they resort to use their crappy infantry instead?
If the sassanids were that powerful irl why didnt they take over the world? they should be a collapsing empire like the Eastern Roman Empire not a WW1 unstoppable army. I mean they have grenades and catapults that are more accurate than modern day artilary. Infact they dont even have to use their elite units since they just spam spears and archers. It makes no sense whatsoever they they are this powerful.
