Other than that, you'll be happy with Fall of Eagles, and maybe a few others
It's unique in that if offers two viking factions, the Danes who start in Scandinavia, and Danelaw who start in Northumbria region.
Ancient Empires is like a Rome 2 overhaul for Attila, but much more in depth. Units need to be cycled in/out as stamina plays a massive part of unit efficiency, no more 5 min battles, where one clash settles it all.
I would suggest to watch some of the series played on YouTube. JackieFish, LegendofTotalWar, and a newcomer - Hero of Marathon (who has Carthage, Seluecia, Makedon, and Pontus campaigns up and running
The three faiths being Islam, Latin, and Orthodox Christianity.
Warring States - Roman civil war : splits western empire into 7 factions that are at odds with each other and has a heavy focus on the Roman auxiliary system allowing a high variety of units for each roster. Keeps western empire whole. Other than that it's vanilla
Viking Age - Most Modern setting: AoC DLC set just after the initial viking incursions on Britain. The Danes from that 1st incursion had been gifted most of Northumbria and named the land Danelaw.
The long night - Fantasy/Game of thrones-like : A ice age has hit Europe, forcing many northern regions besides britania to be abandoned as everyone tries to get south to fertile climates. Every turn is during the winter season so alot of attrition will occur. After a while a demonic force spawns in the North and acts as a end game horde faction to fight against. (think warriors of chaos from warhammer)
Mod of spring and summer + Byzatine expedition - single faction mods : replaces a faction from AoC with a Chinese faction or a Byzatine one. The factions themselves are pretty unique and changes the campaign enough that I'd decided to add them here.
Forgotten Realms - Vanilla with a new paint job : A flood of new factions with minor gameplay tweaks and changes
Fall of the Eagle : Have not played it but it is supposed to make the Vanilla game as close to historically accurate as possible. A bold claim one would say.
Ancient Empires - Rome 2 with fire and blood : Brings back Rome 2 setting with all factions/units on the Attila map. Most complex overhaul, changes almost every aspect of the game giving deeper mechanics to Empire management as well as a battle overhaul. Still in Beta, not all factions are finished or fleshed out.
1212ad - for those with a youtube fanbase : The campaign is in closed play testing, mainly just youtubers and close friends of the modder can play it so far. Units are available to the public for use in custom battles only as of now. Slight chance it will finish before the world ends
I think it's about time we compiled a list of functional overhauls so they don't get lost in the workshop pile of minor or abandoned mods. If anyone has another overhaul I haven't mentioned and thinks it's good enough for the list, reply to this and I'll add it in!
Also Terminus mod for Attila was Good.
