Ostrogoths or Visigoths?
They seem pretty much the same to me. What's the big distinction besides the pre-fix?

They've got similar units since they're both Goths but the Ostrogoths can recruit Roman units if they capture a settlement with a Roman miltary building.

Also different objectives. Ostrogoths want to settle in Italy. Visigoths want southern Gaul and Iberia.

Check out factio ndescription. AS mentioned they have different objectives.

In my campaign for huns visigoths settled on the lands of ERE - modern Turkey, parts of Greece nad Macedonia.

Ostrogoths wandered around for a bit and then appeared in Northern Africa.

Ostrogoths are the superior faction, having a few more roman style units by default to tip the scales. It's also strange that Visigoths start out germanic pagan when both were arian by this point in time.

wisi-ostro goth, gepide are both getian (part of family of thracian) and not germanic tribes, all ancient reference can confirm this

I think that's a minor error CA never fixed. I'm sure the Visigoths have some chapter missions based around spreading Arianism.

Ostrogoths have strong pike units and the Visigoths have strong infantry with high attack and low defense (more similar to the other germanic factions). Ostrogoths are better for a defensive playstyle while Visigoths are better for an aggressive one.
