Worth it to just play the Viking Forefathers?
Hi all, I have most of the TW games but yet to get TWA. My only real interest is The Viking Forefathers faction (DLC).
Now that the base game and DLC is on sale is it worth investing just to play as the Vikings?

My 2nd favourite DLC, behind the Empires of Sand DLC. I would say it is worth it, It's what, 75% less right now?

Cheers Teh, how is the campaign map gameplay? Does it have its own Viking themed mechanics and flavor?

Geats is the only faction in game that allows you to kill 2 factions on turn 1, Danes and Jutes.

What Viking themed mechanics and flavor are you looking for? Since the "viking" DLC is not vikings, it's the forefathers. The "vikings" of later era went to Britain to kill their ancestor relatives.

Cheers for the info Del. I was curious if there is a story or historical facts within the campaign that would teach me a little about the Viking tradition and faith system.
Thanks for explaining that this is an early Viking period and not about the raids in later history that targeted the Christian Church etc, which is what I was thinking this would be.
I purchased the game anyways and the Viking DLC.
BTW, Do you know of any mods that would enable a campaign based, later on, Viking raids along the British coastline with a greedy eye placed firmly on the wealthy Christian Church?
Cheers :)

Play as Danes or the other pagan and raid Britain, if it's good for your. Or wait for Viking Invasion 2. I don't play overhaul mods so I have no recommandations.

Edit: oh wow, only 50%? They lowered the discount due to new content. There were 75% off for most DLCs for 2 years.

Many thanks, Just got Charlemagne DLC, and put the Saga DLC on my wish list, it looks perfect :)
Just noticed the edit. I'm not surprised, of all the TW factions, Sega has to be the worst for pillaging lol

As long as they don't do what EA(Sega) did to the SW(WH) fans, that require a Disney(GW) intervention, they ain't the worst. I just wish the announce historical title after Saga is a major title, not more mini campaigns.

No one mentions the longbeards dlc, its a pro dlc that has only 1 bug in the whole pack, and that bug is Ybor with increase missile range which doesn't work.

Don't think there is any bugs in the viking forefathers dlc either.

I pray that the next game will be Medival and features all the crusades with all the religious fluff that comes with them :)
And a massively expanded campaign gameplay, something along the lines of CKII :)

I saw the mod in the Workshop, thought id give it a go with the Danes and Charlamagne DLC first run though :)

Yeah that mod still exists, called "Age of Vikings." It's well done.

It's basically TW: Saga available right now for free :P

It will be.

Saga is just a parallel set of titles: the next, full historical title is still TBA, but they are in development on it as we speak.

Pretty sure it won't be medieval though: I'm thinking Baroque period, but with late medieval DLC to come, like War of the Roses or Italian Wars.

I wouldn't be surprised if a further Saga iteration covers the Norman invasion/High Middle Age though.
