Age of Charlemagne expansion: what is goal, best faction?

Is there an overall goal for the age of Charlemagne expansion? I loved Shogun 2 which had the clear overall goal of taking all of Japan. Also what is the best faction to play? Thanks everybody, exclamation point !

It is a short campaign sadly (very sadly, because it's excellent!). Domination victory is to control the map (well 110 settlements), then you have short and long victories which are to reach imperium 5 and 7 respectively.

I love to play as Mercia and Charlemagne (Franks) so far, but it will be down to your personal taste.

Increase imperium and complete the various victory goals for your faction

Cordoba is best faction , your basic melee infantry has precursors javs you can dominate most factions with only them and a few cavs

I played Westphalia and tried to conquer Britain and create true anglo saxons that were still pagan. I really should do another campaign it's a good one.
