Report a translation problem
For example Sword with slash damages and 1-4 radiant damages, and a spell adding 5 damages to radiant damages then this sword does 6-9 radiant damages. The only single difference could be the critical, it's still not clear for me how they work, and it's possible the weapon base damage with bonus is used and then this pure radiant sword could have an edge.
EDIT: It's right such mechanism that make rather interesting the whole items system of the game, often the obvious won't be the best, you need analyze better.
