Very complicated

This is the first visual novel that I play, and At the beginning I had a very hard time with this game... I watched the anime years ago, so a was kind of familiar to the story. What I mean is, that when I first played, I hadn`t really a route, so at april 28. the game was just over without an ending. I just landed on the title screen.
Only after that I figured out that u have to exactly do some things to get to a route, but even than I messed it up by doing a route I should do only after some point in the game when u have enough light orbs.

Now, My Question is, why is nothing explained to you in the first place...
Why do you have to follow strict routes, to complete the game, when nobody tells you that?

Am I the only one that was very confused at the beginning???

You can usually pick whatever option you feel is right and you would fall into the route you want. But some kinda does require an exact route. I recommend playing on your own for the first route then start using a guide to save you from going into the wrong routes.

Sadly with this game to finish After Story you will need all the light orbs, which requires you to complete all the routes.

The trick is you just want to pick one characters options over and over. Sometimes you'll get locked out because its a end game route, Clannad is certainly a little on the hard side of routing. There are just so many ending and a few routes you do the most random thing to enter the said route. As long as you are seeing new text it doesn't really matter if you dead end if you are saving a good amount. You just reload and try a different path, you should use the read text skip so you don't need to reread stuff. If you dead end you should assume it was the last choice that was wrong.

Well, you can always use a guide to complete the game but as far as I know it is only recommended to use it after you complete at least 1 or 2 routes in any game (but I don't know about Clannad though).
And don't be THAT upset, visual novels are supposed to be like that.

I am not upset.
I really love this game, though I wish there would be voiced tomoya as well. I am a really big Clannad fan and I am very happy to have this game for all the more detailed backstorys

Having Tomoya being voiced would be cool, but I kinda got used to no protag voices so it doesn't bother me at all. Also happy to see a fellow happy to play the game.

Looks like it's pretty hard to get into a route. In my first run, I just made random picks (or "moar what I would answer in rl" pick) and quickly got a dead end. In the second run, I inverted picks from the first run and then I made some moar random picks, and luckily I got Yukino ending. I mean, luckily, because I realized that if I would pick any other choose in the 3 last picks, I would crashed in another dead end.

Now, for the next endings, I'm just gonna follow a walkthough.
