Rising World

Rising World

Align grid?
Is it possible to rotate the grid itself?
Maybe even move it around?

I want to build a house in my survival world and going with the grid would be contra productive. Would love to build using the grid.

Hope there's a solution for this.
Been using the other building mode so far (enter key). But even then there are issues with doors and windows. I can only place them free hand or with the grid, making the grid as small as possible. This doesn't feel right.

Thanks in advance!

The world grid can't be moved right now. Red is considering a local grid that could be moved. I only use the grid for my initial quick and dirty workshops. I go free style most of the time and use the snap mode. It works pretty well, but yeah, trying to line up stuff gets pretty tedious at times when the snap just won't snap correctly. Try to stay on a 45 or 30/60 degree offset from the grid. Makes it a little easier to figure out how many units to rotate or move. Always make sure you know the angle you chose though.

Even building with the grid though, you'll often end up with designs that have odd angles and offsets, so the grid only helps so far. For really fine detail work, you most often have to go free hand.

You can actually change the grid with the "gridrotation" console command.
You just type "gridrotation" and then add a number after. "Gridrotation 45" for example.

It does seem experimental but it works!

Didn't know he did that. Haven't seen him mention a grid rotation feature, so yeah, must be very experimental and recent.
