On the good side Dragon's Dogma, Phantasy Star Online 2, all of 'Illusion Studo' made games, among numerous others have done great. I'll have to be blunt noting Asian games have the better character creator while the "cheaper" way would be to also import models, the VRChat/Valheim/Tower Unite way.
Red51 noted he desired for us to import clothing (probably from Skyrim, etc), while I'm hoping we would have the option to spawn NPC templates to then import models on top of them.
Two people are coding away, even then it may be a struggle to get a worthwhile character creation. I hope we can get to where we can actually get a cool selection to where not everybody looks like one person, nor wears the samurai outfit. The more unique the better.
One thing I admired was how "we" gradually started expressing ourselves with our own characters seeing certain people wear mexican outfits, other wearing their traditional side, etc. I wore whatever was "cool", or felt proper. I'll always have a male character so having proper male selections would be awesome. The captains outfit, the military, pirate, etc is handy. If I can eventually find traditional slavic outfits (Slovakian), among others that make me happy also. Character creation all around would be awesome, even from modded items. Imported hair types, body assets (think facial assets), etc. Maybe even tattoos.
I hope we get a nice range of hair types, eyebrow types, iris, eyes, and etc as I've seen in Illusion Studio type games. Because the game has to be PG it's fine not to have the other types, it's just Draven, myself, and others who love customization would love to go wilder.
I kinda miss PSO2 for how detailed the character creator was. It probably can't be replicated, it however is a nice shining example of how to do things. It however sucked I had to grind to get specific outfits, something I could probably no longer worry about for Rising World.
To cut corners just, again, allow us to import our own models to over-ride the main character, even the NPC side. Done!

Side-note:
NPC Customization:
Something I'm still hoping to get access on is having an NPC have its model overwritten by an external model, something I've noted numerous times. Once we get to the NPC update I'm hoping we can get this done. It's Red51's game, it's just I'm very hopefuly. I myself would still love to bring a character named 'Scathach' into Rising World using Rising World logic.

Draven has one POV, I have another. Rising World is a powerful game, I just desire to have the ability to make the most of it, Red51 willing.
if necessary, add an API to it to allow modders to add such things as character customisation and fancy clothes that scale to fit the character etc, so Red51 can concentrate on more important things.
It's all important.
Every puzzle piece is important adding to the bigger picture.
When it comes to in-depth body modifications (e.g. having sliders to change the size of the nose, chin, head etc), we have some long term plans for that, but currently this has a low priority. I think people only benefit from this type of customization if it's done right. I've seen so many games which allow you to change the shape of your character, yet in most cases it's more or less useless - and often only results in ridiculously deformed characters (which can be quite funny, but doesn't add much to the game) ^^
In this regard, I think it's much more important to have lots of clothes and hairstyles to choose from.
We also want to put a bigger focus on customization through the API, so custom player models could be loaded via plugins. Such a pipeline could also be used to create custom npcs, for example ;)
Excellent. Good luck on the female player models. Though, as Skyrim modding has shown hopefully we can get good male characters also, and more proper clothing for both sides. In doing so I wouldn't feel so guilty not playing PSO2 anymore relying solely on Rising World. I could even kick Skyrim to the curb.
Ark, Zenith MMO, 7 Days 2 Die, Empyreon, among numerous others. I"m aware it's limitations for being indie, though so much more can be done. I wish Rising World could be one of those better games where character customization (with sliders) actually means something. Even if you have to mod it, almost like modded Skyrim.
Truth. Funnily enough I struggle with wardrobe choices in games to which it constantly changes on a daily basis. Here is to hoping Rising World can be one of those epic games I can sideline Skyrim and PSO2 for good, even if I haven't played PSO2 in ages. Illusion Studio has insane clothing choices if you choose the right title. If you had to focus on anything I'd agree with clothing types.
Please do, and I'm glad this was noted. For both players and NPCs; Especially NPCs. I want to be reunited with my anime & game characters from other games doing things in Rising World. If they (NPCs) can fight, or be programmed (told) to do things then more power there. If that void can be filled I'll be silent in one way, though happy and excitable in another.
Little Maids Mod for Minecraft, or the companions in Dragon's Dogma, or my soon to test out 'Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet' telling how companions should behave in the field.
Good luck, Red51. Sorry for being obnoxious, just that there are voids I'm still waiting to be filled within the gaming world.
Just not in all the right places. I'm thankful the current game Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga is awesome. It however lacks a lot thanks to the alleged "crunch" culture, or whatever. You have Uboat covering for Silent Hunter 3, just not properly. You're seeing one set of voids filled, just not the necessary ones.
I'm tracking a lot of potential indie games.
Hence why I'm here. It's doing more than Minecraft (at least on paper) having the most polished potential out of every game I've tried.
Indeed. If he fills in the various voids you'll see more hype for this game not just from me, everybody also. Once he gets the biomes out, the trains, NPCS (with model swapping), etc this game will be the best one ever.
I've also been trying to sell modders onto this game so we can get it modding. Too early, I know. Once API's come along this game shall in various voids I've been seeking to be filled.
The wait is killer, we however can't rush art.
Well, I just let that off my chest. You understand.
There are some exceptions here and there, it's however a low 1 per year, or so. Elden Ring, Lego Star Wars, Code Vein, but even they have massive flaws. Neir: Automata was one of the best games ever. Star Trek Bridge Commander was needed, it however flopped for possibly not being "open ended". If it had more things to do (Open ended) it would have survived time's erosion. I'm sure someone is going to bite me with Elden Ring, I'm not its target audience so I haven't played.
One other example is how we had 'Star Wars Galaxies' to which no game in 2022 era has been able to match it. Lego Star Wars fills it in about 30% with the exploration, space, and unlockables. The other percentage is void.. You have player home, no crafting, no random missions. Nothing which ties you down. I'm aware its a "kids game", it's however also marketted for true Star Wars fans while also at the same time having that Disney touch of telling the Star Wars fans of old to screw off.
Rey goes "Show me my place in all this".... She has no place, she's just Disney's corrupted tool.
I miss 'Black & White' when it actually broke ground. We need more of these games which no studio wants to fill in out of necessity, only make games in other zones.
Truth.
And yes, AAA games are like official billboards for political and Hollywood corruption. It's why, again, I favour Japanese (asian) games over western ones when you have politics shoved down your throat about fake gender politics, fake politics in general, and other nonsense. Media is supposed to stimulate and provoke the mind, not be a mindless 'pied piper'. Looking at Ubisoft whine and moan about Elden Ring and even Ghost of Tsushima really showed how corrupted western game companies are. There's proof to back up these claims.
Play games for escapism, you're not allowed to even do that
Look at indie (I mean bare bones indie) with people in their "basement" making better free-roam games to which Nintendo/GameFreak DMCA's them. If people had free reign they could make a far better Pokemon game than both Nintendo & Gamefreak combined. But because Nintendo is old fashioned they're too corporate bloated to do anything. Pixelmon (For Minecraft) showed how a true Pokemon game should have been.
Yup. again, Pokemon. Then you have Star Wars, Call of Duty, among other hit titles. People are so pacified and desensitized they don't even realize where they stand. I point this out I'm always allegedly wrong, yadda, yadda. But yeah. I digress.
Better to vent and let thoughts out then to stew and self-delete. People are told to bottle things up to which it acts like a poison. Discussions should be encouraged.

Back to the topic at hand, lightly..... Somewhat.
I found this app called 'Polycam - 3D Scanner', it can output any format which includes .obj & textures. Not sure how many textures it will release, or what format. I find that this app would be handy with Rising World for when we obtain that 'static objects' plugin again. I have an Android so I'm stuck with the basics while those with an iPhone/ipad would be able to do so much more. I have things I would genuinely love to import into Rising World sadly having to rely on limitations with Android itself. I'm even encouraging my friends to do the same with their model kit collection, and whatever else they want to share. I'm sure people have personal possessions they would love to import into Rising World using their smartphone to scan into Rising World.
I originally aimed it for VRChat, I could however bounce it over to Rising World instead making museum buildings displaying our IRL model kits in Rising World.
Imagine that, having your main character being fully customizable, as with NPCs, and even IRL items imported into Rising World. Not via posters, actual models. I wonder if Red51 wants to tie it in with 'Polycam - 3D Scanner', or any other properly supported application. To those who have an iPhone or ipad may be at an advantage here. Rising World offers these grand potentials and opportunities, something other games tend to struggle with. I feel bad for demanding this from Red51, his game is the best platform to allow for this.
Again, sorry for hijacking your thread, just more things I came across while holding more of my thoughts back. There's a lot I'm holding back waiting for Rising World to update.
