While most people (45%) don't want that, there is still a considerable amount of people (28%) who would enjoy this feature (and also many players [27%] who wouldn't care) - so it's definitely important that we keep a good balance between fantasy and realism. I could imagine that some rare magical weapons or items (only obtainable from dungeons or hell, for example) would be a nice addition - although right now we don't have any plans to add things like spells etc.
Is there a specific fantasy feature you're looking for? ^^
This way server / world owners could restrict what items, etc. are being used so they could restrict it to the theme. (Speaking of which, we still need an old world equivalent model for the modern workbench so we have access to all block textures).
I also don't think it's a bad idea if it's done as a paid DLC as that is a lot of game mechanics work, etc. that goes into it.
I enjoy RW the most creating an Old World environment. Adding Magic would not be a bad idea in such a world since Magic is, more often than not, simply natural forces misunderstood. When cooking [eventually] begins to be added, it would not be much more to add various potions to the mix.
For fantasy, we have skeletons and large spiders - though I prefer not to use them. I would not mind finding a rare unicorn though, or even a flying horse ... or mining for the equally rare & mysterious mythril [something I miss from the Java Version].
Old World & Modern still needs to be better separated. Ex: I don't use batteries or electric lights, so why do I see them and the various accompanying tools in the Workbench inventory? I usually just don't pay attention to them ... Though, they are still available if I choose to use them.
The Old World concept of RW stills needs to be much strengthened and ought to be a game unto itself. A player may choose to stay in the Old World with all it's wonder, magic & mystery or move forward quickly to the Modern World with all its ingenuity.
But, alas, these discussions have been going on for years ...
!!! SPOILER !!!
You can already spawn a Unicorn into the Game via Console, it is a Horse Variant.
Too late, he already did XD
As put, we already have fantasy RPGs for that so yeah, A deep exploration into alchemy including the chinese aspect like acupuncture and so on would be cool.
Also if we are going with realism then we might want to consider how medieval siege weapons and swords work since tons of YouTubers demonstrated how they work in the real world, just as well with guns.
What about elf or dwarf npc's ... maybe even a Hobbit or two. Let the players decide if they want bandits, pirates & other dangerous folk or a more gentler, fanciful version, or a mixture as they choose?
Personally, I'd rather see elves in the woods & dwarves in the mountains then bandits bent on killing me.
As for Red's poll: that needs to be understood with the discussions at the time and the people answering. I'm not sure it could still be counted as the "final word."
Meanwhile, we haven't even achieved the basics yet ...
To this day the idea is still polarized as the whole gaming industry seems to be now.
