Unity no longer loading
I had been playing for a few hours multiplayer with Unity. I was just disconnected. Whenever I reload the game, I can pick my server and it begins to load but anywhere from 45% to 85% it will then crash the game back to desktop.
I am unsure if there is something I need to do or if it's just my bad luck :)

Oh, that's weird oO Does it happen on a public multiplayer server, or do you play via Steam P2P (i.e. "Play with friends")? If it happens on a public multiplayer server, does it also happen on other servers?

Maybe you could send us a report? To do that, restart the game right after a crash (it's sufficient to just load the main menu), then open the console (key ~ or `) and type "report". Maybe add some additional information like "game crashes when loading multiplayer" or something like that).
A report automatically attaches the current and the previous log, so the previous log hopefully contains more information about the crash :)

it's the Medieval public server. Tried it, crashed. Then tried 2 other servers which both worked and then medieval worked again.... /shrug. I did send a report just in case theres anything for you to see :)
Hi Red..... In the last week I have seen people including AlyCat not be able to log into the Medieval Realms Unity server while I was on there without any connection issues. Then yesterday I suddenly was not able to get into the server and it would actually crash the game. Yesterday I got 70% into the connection...today it only gets to 30% before crashing Rising World. I have heard that people moved to other servers only to find the same problems happened to them there. I went to the Green Valleys server yesterday and in the one hour I was on there we got disconnected twice. I saw the message you left Alycat and will try logging back into Medieval Realms server and then try and send you that report.
Red. Have filled in the report and sent it to you. I noticed while filling in the report from the starting menu that Risingworld.exe was taking up 1598 MB of memory while at the main menu stage. I assume there must be something running in the background to be using all that memory at the main menu. As mentioned above, I have heard from others having the same problem on Medieval Realms as well as other servers they moved to and it only started in the last 7 days when I saw people having problems logging in to the MR server. It waited until yesterday before it happened to me...but then 2 people say today they are on the server no problems. Which confuses me to why I cannot get in any more. Have checked game files have not being corrupted and all looks ok there.
Just to confirm this is happening on public multiplayer servers and I do not play with friends P2P. Whatever i s happening crashes Rising World back to desktop instead of just back to main menu.

The bottom of the error message says to look for the crash log at Local/Temp/JIW-Games/Rising World/Crashes ...... I found the JIW-Games Folder in the LocalLow folder not in the Local/Temp folder and assume you will still get those files in the report.

No sure if you got the player previous log file in the report but it is showing this at the start of the log .....

I have also uninstalled the game, deleted the remaining files in the folder, and then reinstalled it from Steam. Still crashing. Can play single-player game and play online servers as long as they are not Medieval Realms on the unity server.

Thanks for the reports @AlyCat and @Run and Hide Gamer! That's definitely a bug, unfortunately it's hard to tell what causes this exactly... apparently the game accesses an invalid memory address, which causes something else (which is actually unrelated to this error) to crash - so the crash is more like a consequential error, not caused by the actual bug directly, which makes it difficult to find out what's wrong =/

However, the next update should prevent this type of crash from happening and provide more appropriate error messages if something goes wrong. So if you still experience this crash after the next update, please let me know (or send a report then accordingly) :)

I actually had this issue in the Java version. With the Green Valleys server. It never worked again until now with the Unity release. I have had a failure to connect several times since and if I remember correctly(probably super incorrectly) it had to do with certain items getting messed around with.

Example: destroying a spawning in motorboat. Admin deleting my dead self so that I wasnt in my way building a roof. Or host receiving updates by windows..

I am probably very incorrect about that though.

Happy New Year!

^Unconfirmed it works on Java for me, it likely does not^
Thanks Red..... I noticed that YahWho had restarted the server and networking equipment on the MR server around 5 hours ago. When I went to connect to the server, the animation in the bottom right went a lot quicker up to 100, previously it was crawling up to 100% at a snail's pace but is now so much quicker, and the screen was about to go into Rising World....but then it crashed to desktop. Can now get up to somewhere between 80 to 100% before it crashes even though I can see 2 people are on the server.Appeciate you looking t the issue.

Will play Medieval Realms on the Java server in the meantime until the update comes out. Cheers.
It took a number of attempts to log in but I eventually managed to get onto the MR server just as I was about to leave for work...... I will try it again in a couple of hours to make sure I can still connect. I think this was the same thing that happened with AlyCat...... could not get on then finally was able to get in.

Did it actually cause the game to crash, or were you "just" unable to connect to the server? Being unable to connect to the server (i.e. getting stuck in loading screen or getting an "unable to connect" message) sometimes indicate that there may be a server-side issue (e.g. corrupted player data etc). In this case, only a server log provides more information about what's going on.

However, when getting an actual error dialog (which forces you to quit the game) or if the game crashes to desktop, this is typically a client-side issue. In this particular case, it's most certainly a bug and it's definitely not supposed to happen.

That's really weird... the next update will either fix this issue, or at least provide clearer error information so we can find out what's really going on there :)

I want to simply say no it did not crash it out to desktop, as I do not remember in regards to java. I cannot say for certain how far out the players were ejected in the major event but the server crashed out hard, regarding the Unity side of comment(boats being destroyed, etc.). Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

Maybe one time it crashed me out to desktop(unclear), but anyways I only brought this all up in case the items/doppelgangers being messed with(unity) helps fix things. I forget why it was, I thought this relevant. Sorry!
