Round buildings
I know that by using the setr-command, planks, beams, etc. you can pretty much arrange every round shape you need in the game.

But im wondering if there is some nice trick how to do this properly. I always strugle when it is about to plan the radius of the circle.

i.e. for a tower. I would highly appreciate some tool that will "mark" the circle as ghost shape and you just have to follow the line with your planks / beams.

I also smetimes struggle to evenly put the single planks / beams together. sometimes they "overlap" (i hope thats the right word) each other just fine to make it look like a single piece and sometimes they just don´t want to fit 100% and a little gap shows up.

Maybe one of you has a suggestion how to do this in a better way?

make a sun like in the screen below.
you can use beams or planks. place a block, take a beam turn on grid (meke sure enter is not aktiv) center it in the middel of your block place it rotate -place - rotate - place. connect beams at the end with autoconnect (enter) make the sun as big as you need, its allways a perfect circle :)

same with planks with one big difference - beams connect in the middle of the planke and you can use full length.

use the setr xx command to get the correct angle for the circle - depend on how big you want the circle
use setl 1 to get the perfect size so there is no gap and not too much overlap (there should be allways a small overlap so you dont get gaps when you rise your tower)

Huge effort. I hope one day we can apply a ghost shape.

Thank you for the input, dagoline.

:)
One thing that saves time, for me, is to only make a semi-circle, then blueprint it and place it flipped, next to the first one and manoeuvre it into place with the number keys. That way, you get a full circle in half the time. As for gaps and overlaps, two words, Trim Pieces. I use a lot of trim pieces to hide not-so-pretty spots.

The "sun" method that Dagoline mentioned works quite well for getting a circle the right size. I use it a lot but I use a LOT of spokes. The great thing about it is, you can blueprint the guide, store it in your journal, and use it again later.

oh - its just a one time effort - make one circle blueprint it name it - 3m or wathever put the next row beams blueprint it ... i hade done this one time from 1 m to 12 m - thats what i use most.

for a tower make just a quarter - blueprint it with the block in the middle - rotate and place, same for upwards place a few blocks next to the wall rise it until you hit exactly a block . bluprint the ring with one block inside an put it on the first ring - with a block in it its fast and easy :D

Thank you all for the good advise. Will try that

There's going to be a construction system overhaul at some point after the player model foundation. One of the features of it that I'm aware of is that blocks will no longer be limited to the grid so you can freely rotate and scale block shapes any way you want. At that point, it should be easy to add a few more simple shapes to the game. For me, that's going to be great cause I simply don't have the patience to place a plank, rotate 1 degree, place another, and repeat 358 more times ;-p
