Wood Stove Substitute
Hello everyone. Recently, I've been trying to recreate The Trapper's Homestead from The Long Dark, although the cabin in that game has a wood stove, rather than fireplace, and there obviously isn't a wood stove in Rising World. I figured I would try and jury rig something to look like a wood stove if possible, but if it simply can't be done I might just do a fire place to make it look better, even though it won't be as accurate.

Does anyone have any creative methods for making a false wood stove? I've been using metal slabs and grates, but it doesn't look all that great so far. I mean, it doesn't look horrible, but a fireplace would still probably look better.

I used a grill over a fireplace and a hatch. And then covered it with blocks and stuff I had the actual cooking spot and a nice crackling fire. Maybe something like that might help you?

Do you search something like this?

Maybe you could search in the blueprints section in the official Rising World forum for more blueprints.

Just find a picture of one... save it to your computer.. then make a poster.. upload your image to your poster.. set it where you want your wood stove. Ta dah... you can do a lot with posters. For everything there isn't a craftable decoration.. poster it.

I don't suppose you have any pictures of that, do you? I'm having trouble imagining exactly what it would look like.

That one does look really nice, but I'm aiming more for one of those cast iron squareish ones, more like this:

I'll definitely check out those blueprint sections though. I didn't know that was a thing.

I thought about doing that, but I'd rather it be functional if I can help it. If I have to, I'll put a smoker outside and do what you suggested, but I'll try to see if I can figure something else out first I think. Then again, if I put a fire inside an enclosed box, and put the poster on it, I'd get the sound a light of the fire, and still have it look like the stove. Hmmmmm I might give that a try. I'd miss out on actually seeing the flames, but it might look pretty nice after all.

Can you only place posters vertically, or can they be lain down on a flat surface (so I can do the top as well)?

You could play a bit with wood beams and planks

My idea would be to take off one block from the ground, stick garden torch (several) in the middle of the hole and fill up the hole again with a block.
That gives a nice shiny fire without taking up much space.

Then use console to get wood beams and planks in the texture you like to have, play a bit in size and angle. For the “tubes“ (for smoke) use these round beams/logs and make them the size you like.

Awesome things you can do with this wood stuff

Also, can place your beam/block/board ... to set poster against.. then remove the beam/etc so it's out of the way.. it takes some messing around with. Ideally, you could even make a functional firepit/grill and cover it with your poster to be able an still use it. But, I haven't really played with it enough to see if I could accomplish that. I did make use of a bbq grill then enclosed it for a kitchen island cook stove at one point. Looked pretty nice and was functional.. but, that was all beam/board and block work.

That is actually pretty nice, but a little too bit for my cabin XD and not quite the one I'm going for, but I think I figured it out. I'll have to modify it a little, but I'll share my blueprint once I'm done, which should be sometime within the next few days (I haven't tested it, but I'm pretty sure it's even functional). Thanks anyway!

I was going to use wooden beams and planks and such, and might still try that so that I can turn it at an angle, but in the meantime I made a pretty decent one using blocks. I just need to get the right textures for the poster now, and I'll be all set.

Oh wow, yes, that's perfect! The little green square one is actually more accurate for what I'm trying to do, but I love that pot belly one. Thank you for sharing that. Do you happen to know a link for the blueprints? And maybe some blueprints for those pots and cookingware too. Not sure how they did those, but those look top notch. My hat is off to the creator(s).

they are all and some more in the blueprint section on the offical forum, i will search them, dont remember how i called them ... and i will upload an other one that shoud fit in your hunting cabin ;)
