digging deeper?
I know the game has extensive caves, but I found a shallow sinkhole with some ore in it and just started digging my own cave from there. Is there any benefit to digging deeper and deeper?

Yes, different ores and deep down you'll only find your own personal hell

Hellstone at the bottom. But make sure you have enough blocks to get back out again or enough wood to make a block bench if you do survive the last drop. It's a long drop from the opening to the ground, but once in hell, it's hard to escape.

Well, the deeper you go, you will find silver, gold and maybe a dungeon . . .
