Walter already said it - with planks and beams you have nearly limitless freedom. resize them, change the angle for turning, the radius, positioning detail, whatever else you desire.
@Walter - there is one thing where i agree with StaariZA - planks and beams can not be placed in row as easily as blocks.
when i see your buildings thats not a big thing for you but i imagine others prefer another style. i also enjoy that feature when building a huge wall
you can use the console to spawn the planks and beams in any texture you like.
example:
1. open console with the ^ button (the one below ESC)
2. item woodbeam 1 63 (spawns 1 wood beam with texture nr. 64)
isntead of woodbeam you can use "woodlog" or "woodplank"
settings are:
setr = sets rotation angle
setp = sets positioning detail
sets = sets sizing detail (steps to make object bigger or smaller)
right ctrl key holds the object in place so you dont have to hold your mouse all the time
PgUp / PgDn and arrow keys can maneuvr the object while right ctrl is activated
Shift + PgUp/PgDn or arrow keys allow to resize the plank/beam/log
Right Ctrl + PgUp/PgDn or arrow keys allow changing rotation / angle
its a bit tricky to figure out but you can do pretty amazing stuff with this.
I ahve to admit though that the plugin planks and beams takes over the manual console commands and makes life a LOT easier
I hope so. Be nice to have that ability to make even more intricate designs.
90 degrees only is too boring
It would be very helpful in creating semi-round structures out of blocks.
You can do so already. Just use a plank with the size 1 1 1
