"Mr Milo" This spawned me on a lake shore with my toes nearly touching the water. There are iron and bits of coal among the big rocks, so starting is fairly easy. Just run up to the top of the bluff and rake yourself a nice flat area for your first camp.
"HotelCalifornia" Spawn was in the grassy strip that's next to the ocean. You'll see the palms close by. It only takes a second to run over there.
If you'd like to try out your own seeds, erase the numbers that you see in the seed window and type in whatever word/words you want to use. The game itself will internally translate it to numbers, so don't worry about that. Type the same word/words in the world name space so you'll recognize it later on your game list. (You can also use caps and spaces in the words if you wish.)
There have been a number of threads in which players have shared their favorite seeds, or seeds that have spawned them into a particular terrain.
In the seed box just delete the numbers and type in any text or numbers you want.
I just tested a new seed: LlamaSwami. It spawned me between ocean and mountains. I did some building just in case that would be an issue. Then deleted it and erased the seed name when the create new world screen came up. I entered it again and it spawned me in the same spot. Are you maybe deleting some of the elements like dungeons or caves, etc? All of my worlds have everything included. Eliminating something would change the world that you're trying to create.

in the second box that is labelled ' Seed: ' ?
The top box will not alter the world generation it is just the File Name of the Map.
