Informaton about biomes.
Hello everyone.

I tried to find detailed infomation about the biomes of this game but unfortinatelly didn't find it. Even the wiki has very basic information about some of them, and none at all about others. To add the mess, evey source (e.g. the wiki, update history, and development roadmap) mentions slightly different informantion.

So, if anyone knows it for sure, I would like to know: What are all the biomes currently in the game both land and aquatic; Which biomes boarder which, and which are considered "transition" ones; Which animals and plants can I find in each one?

Thanks for the help.

Currently it's all random per seed.

Desert, savannah, grassland, mountains, pine-maple forest, 'tropical' (Mediterrainina) biome, tundra (frozen plains & forested) lakes, and ocean.

Desert
Grassland
Polar region
Savannah
Taiga
Tundra

We're to gain more more biomes, yet that's after the few updates.

Thank you! You should consider putting this information in the wiki, would help to spand the knowledge about the game.

I am just curious when you said the boardings are random. The two games with biomes I started, I began in a grassland that had a tundra as neighbor (in both cases close to the start point). Also, the wiki says grasslands are neighbors of savannahs. This may be coincidence, thought I wish it was not.

Also, its good to know more biomes will be added. Just wish they make it as safely as they did when the water bodies and dungeons where added. Avoiding losses is always better.

I meant the world generation is at random, yet you also have mini-biomes being transitions between grassland and tundra. It's in some areas, yet you can spot them easily by seeing grasslands turning into tundra, yet gradually. Rising World needs more of these biomes and transition biomes.....

I'm sure Red51 & others have a full list.

Also, anything world generation is being held off on because of how much it tends ot mess with map integrity that we're gaining features first before it expands into rivers, and etc. More dungeons and etc was said to be added later, even though we need rivers at the least.

Oh, the transitions are smooth? Even better!

I believe rivers and flooded caves will come when the water become static. I really want to see this.

Yes, i want to atleast find flooded caves someday. When water becomes dynamic then we should see some cool stuff like underwater rivers and waterfalls.. Underground lava pits would be nice too but at present the only lava in the game is just a layer in hell and not actually a liquid block like the water is.

And I had a list of biomes and sub biomes but can't find it. My listed is now outdated anyways as the biome hierarchy seems to have changed. This is probably what Red51 changed in the last update when he was trying to even out the distribution of biomes. Beaches, Oceans, and Searocks used to be part of one biome type and Tundra, IceTundra, and Taiga were part of a ColdBiome. These have been re-organized so now there seems to be only two biomes. I flew around a while in game to map them out. Here is the current arrangement.

Default (id 0)
--Grass (open plains)
--Mixed Forest
--Pine Forest
--Meadow1(yellow flowers)
--Meadow3 (purple flowers)
--Tundra
--IceTundra
--Taiga
Dry Biome (id 2)
--Mediterraniean
--Savanah
--Desert
--Beach
--Searocks

Good list, even outdated it already helps. Thank you!

Actually that's the new list. my old one is outdated because there used to be four super-biome types, not two like there are now.

Sorry. But even better now, we have a source of what terrains to expect to find (until more appear, of course).
