Wavepoints
Let us make wavepoints on maps so idiots like me don't get lost.

Do you mean "waypoints" ? If so, you can mark your own on your map. You will have to check the map every now and then but having them show up visually when in the regular view is a nice idea. It would make navigating a bit easier, especially for people like me who seem to have a less than friendly relationship with a compass.

You don't really need the compass when navigating on the map. Open the map and look at which way the red arrow is pointing, that's the direction you are facing. Keep opening the map frequently and make sure it's still pointing in the direction you wish to travel if you have had to turn a lot to avoid mountains etc.

I would guess that waypoints will come at some stage since the map is realistically too large not to have them. The devs are still working on the character model and animations etc for the moment but they will get around to it.

I love to explore and check every area and one problem I have with the map, is that it does not keep track of the are you travel too. So every time I open the map, I like to travel to a new area. But I have to way of knowing if I been there before. Know, everytime I travel to a new area, I place some kind of marking!!

The new map in-game lets you add/remove waypoints. What would be nice if they showed up visually in the playing field. But I guess you mean, waypoints along a specific path that you have to hit in order. Whenever the quest system is added I would like to see that as an option. The next waypoint could show up in some-sort of quest panel on the side that lists objectives and percentages (or distance till) those objectives. :)

The map shows areas you have already explored. The areas you have yet to visit will be obscured.

How do you mark your map? May be a silly question, but.....
