What antivirus program do you use exactly? Make sure the game is on the exception list of your av scanner.
Maybe it's also worth a try to run the game (or more precisely, Steam) as administrator. To do that, shutdown Steam, then rightclick on the Steam shortcut -> select "Run as Administrator".
@Khayla: If the pc crashes, there is definitely something strange going on. The game should never cause the computer to crash, unless the machine suffers from temperature issues (or more precisely, no application should cause your computer to crash). Please check the temperature of your CPU and graphics card.
What sort of "crash" do you experience exactly? Do you get a bluescreen, or does your computer simply shut down?
If the temperature is fine, but you're still running into crashes, there is most likely a hardware or driver issue.
Steam - Settings - Family - authorise this computer (make a tick there). I am not quite sure if this really helps but it is worth a try.
In reality, any application only has to hiccup and Windows crashes. It also seems that each new version of Windows is more likely to crash as a result of a minor error than the previous ones. Unlike Unix/Linux, Windows does not run apps in protected memory to prevent apps taking the OS with it when they crash.
