What's with the cooking pot?
For those that don't know, there is a cooking pot you can spawn in the console but has no function other than looks over a campfire as of now.
What's with it, it's been in the game before or around the water update. I'm simply curious on its story.

it has no function yet. It will become functional with the cooking update which will come later on

ya, wanted to know why it's in the game still, my only thought is they forgot to remove it from the files when were updating or something.

oh no there are a lot of items in the files that do not yet exist in the game. I have managed to even corrupt my player inventory by spawning items that are in the files but are not supposed to be in game yet XD

As @Minotorious mentioned, it will become functional with the cooking update ;) There wasn't really a need to remove it, especially since some people found out about the cooking pot relatively soon (and placed some of them in their worlds), so we couldn't just remove it without converting their worlds (and world conversions are tricky, there is always a chance that something goes wrong, resulting in a lot of trouble^^).
That's why we just kept it in the game, so people could at least use it as a decorative item.

If you look in the definition.db file in the commons.jar you'll find tables of all items and objects. try spawning them and see what you find. I know some extra objects like a broken crate, a few stone lamps (a short one and a torchere) can be spawned. some items like the shovel (it's not completely functional but its there) and the nvg (not saying outloud what that one is) are also spawnable. You can even spawn dungeon items (including traps) if you want to get really creative ;)

I would take that spawning with caution fox, at least do it first in a test world and not your proper one else you might have to go and delete your player from the playerlist for it to work again. I was spawning stuff from the list in the definitions.db and when I got to one of the ingots (think the whitaniumingot) my inventory got corrupted and had no way to get back in my world unless I dropped my player from the world database.

Oh yeah, good point. I think javanium does the same thing.
Minotorious Jul 8, 2017 @ 1:07pm
no javanium can be spawned without a problem XD

Also be carefull with the nvg (Night Vision Goggles)... My save/game survived but I had some scary moments trying those to work... :(

Be nice to cook some fish in that cooking bot. Some rice, and mushrooms, and whatever else was found in Medieval era & Feudal Era time periods. Hmm...We latch onto each & every feature which is amusing that you can't remove it that we're now using it in our worlds. I haven't yet.
