Can't make sticks

Because once you chop a log into sticks, they just disappear. I've mined out the entire area around a tree even, so I can see the ground thru all the friggen veggitation. Same thing, no sticks after chopping a log.

The logs appeared, but after chopping them into sticks, they just disappeared. Was following the tutorial.

Yeah, if you chop a log, it basically just breaks, so the smaller pieces disappear. If you want to use it for crafting, you have to pick up the log part, then go to the "Crafting" tab in your inventory, there you can craft sticks or lumber ;)

Could have sworn the tutorial said to chop the logs into sticks. Otherwise I wouldn't have kept chopping on the logs.

Oh okay, now I see why it was confusing ^^ The tutorial indeed says "go to a tree and cut it down [...] now cut the log into pieces", but it was referring to the tree log (i.e. the full tree log, not the individual pieces) :)

You should change the verbage on that. To something where it says you have to make the sticks in the crafting menu.

Yes, that makes sense. The tutorial anyway needs an overhaul, it's a little bit dated now ^^

my first few trees were unfortunatly chopped up until i figured out how to pick up the peices. My friend also wasted his first few trees that way. changing the wording would definitly help.

I've seen a few people on youtube videos start out and get a little confused on how to get sticks. Ive been meaning to bring up but wasn't sure if I brought it up already. I've seen players, even when picking up a log piece will try and turn the log directly into sticks without turning logs into lumber first. The step about making lumber is not mentioned in the instructions. It's usually with people who haven't played Minecraft before.

Yes, that's true. Unfortunately the space on the journal pages is a little bit limited =/ We will add at least an info that sticks can be crafted in the crafting menu (and once someone opens the crafting menu, he will see that sticks require lumber) :)

Thanks Red! Also, same thing should be done about furnaces with fuel type (coal & Lumber) + teachign people how to use the crafting block bench for block type variety. It's important.
