Pickaxe help!
Can the pickaxe go faster without creative mode?

No, unfortunately you can't really increase the speed of the pickaxe without using the creative mode. But there will be higher tier tools in the future which allow faster mining ;)

You can mine a bit faster if you click with the mouse and not just hold it. You have to hold it untill the pickaxe hits the ground and then you can stop holding and do the same again. So you save the time that is needed for the pickaxe going up again. That is just a little bit faster if you do it right but it is not the best for your finger and mouse :)
It works with other tools, too.

Red51,

Will there be possibly a higher quality pickaxe? I personally dont want to use noisy power tools such as that jackhammer. I know I've brought this up before in forums and yes, its probably a bit too minecrafty but a diamond pickaxe or some other harder metal pickaxe would be nice.

@zork_foxfire: Yes, once we have our new playermodels and items (which includes two new pickaxes), it's our intention to make use of the various ores (so for example, there might be tools / pickaxes made out of copper, iron, steel, mithril etc) :)

@red51
I hoped so. Wow! The game is really going to become much more interesting for us survivalists. :)

He beat me to saying that you can click faster. You have to make sure the pickaxe & tools hit the object then click the instant slightly after that. Once you hear & feel that connection you click again. It however kills the mouse........

Loving the mention of new tools. There's been a lot of complaints so I hope one of those tools shall be hard to work towards for the gains to get out of it. If it's double speed then we're all goign to be happy, myself included.

I'm an industrial survivalist so I'll use a jackhammer. Whatever I can use I'll use. I'll even use powertools, if they provide a good reward in the end :)

I imagine that maybe better ore layering will be needed.. tin on the top layer but also rare so we can make bronze tools first. Bronze is as good as iron but also rarer in real life. So iron should be layered deeper but be more common. When we start out in the stone age then this will make the most sense as we will be making our first tools of stone and work our way up to bronze. But we also still need some sulfur on the surface. Coal is ok as we already have surface coal but the rest of the rarer ores should be deep such as silver and gold and tungsten. I say tungsten because we dont use it until the tier 2 workbench is crafted. I also read that tungsten is actually pretty rare in real life so should be as deel as silver and gold. And mithril is fine where it is. I still would like to see diamonds and gems someday.

Oh... and tin should be added so we can actually have a bronze age ;-)
