I got to the MIDI files by extracting DARK.GOB using something called GOBREAD. All the *.GMD files are music, and need to be modified. I learned about the 4 byte modification by finding someone else who had posted altermed *.MID files.
Someone had mentioned wanting a higher res setting for standard DF. This is one of those things that could be made possible with the Unreal Edition.
I am still slowly working away on this, but a lot of my time is split between level design at Warner Brothers Games Montreal and teaching, so its slow going.

On a side note, I would be surprised if Disney was interested in that.
P.S. Are you planning to remake the whole game, or just the first level? I'd love it if you did the whole game. You might have already answered this, but I'm a little confused still.
It may be possible to at least use a checkpoint system in the levels. I am not a programmer, and I doubt I would be able to implement a 'save anywhere' feature. Who knows?
Also, I am thinking of renaming this project so as not to be confused with the project being made by Jason Lewis of Obsidian, which is a full modern hi-res remaster. Mine is not a re-master, more a remake.
This project is now titled 'Ultimate Dark Forces'.
