This is for people who have problems starting up the game. This is not my video but subscribe to this guy, he helped me with this problem. He's called PingPongNinja123.

I'll see if I can test this but I'm going to guess there is just going to be me disabling movies. I wonder what causes this problem because my KOTOR 2 runs fine.

EDIT: Tried it. Did not work.

Don't know the why some of you are still having problems. I followed the video to the letter (download file, set compatability mode, oinned to taskbar, and left videos on) and it works fine for me

For what it's worth, when I try to run the game from the Steam interface, I get the issue of KOTOR dropping to the taskbar immediately after the LucasArts logo/animation. If I run the executable directly (<steamdir>\steamapps\common\swkotor\swkotor.exe), everything works just fine - no disabling movies, no compatibility mode, nada. Just in case this helps anybody.

I also have no launcher file to change the compatibility settings on and when the atioglxx file is in my swkotor file kotor won't open at all.

i have KotorTSL and it worked fine on windows 7 , will it be the same with kotor 1??

I didn't need to download that file. It worked with just compatibility mode and turning off the movies.

If anyone's still having this problem for Windows 7, I tried all of the above, but none worked, had to reinstall everything after several .dll corrupts. Found out somehow that all it takes is to change the Graphics Options, following this guy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3Gbe_6I14g

Go to swkotor.ini
Go to Graphic Options
Change Fullscreen=1 to Fullscreen=0
Add to Graphic Options AllowWindowedMode=1
(Remember to enable movies)
Save the file
Play the Game!

(And yes, I know playing in windowed mode is terribly distracting, so I only use it for the movies, because otherwise, the game is nonsensical without them.)
um can you put the info from the video on here, i don't use youtube.

For me works this:
1) Download lastest ATI drivers
2) Start to run the installer but don't finish it. You just need the installer to extract the files to C:\AMD\Support
3) Go to that folder and do a search for atioglxx.dl_
4) When you find that file copy and paste it to KOTOR folder
5) Open a command prompt as administrator by running cmd.exe as administrator.
6) Change your directory by typing into the command prompt CD path/to/kotor
7) Expand the atioglxx.dl_ to it's uncompressed form of atioglxx.dll by typing this into the command prompt: EXPAND atioglxx.dl_ atioglxx.dll
8) Play :D
