Have you tried playing the game in compatibility mode?

This worked for me and a lot of other people.
Go to C:\ProgamFiles\Steam\Steamapps\Common\swkotor \ . Go to a configuration file called swkotor. Look under [Graphics Options] and there will be a line that says fullscreen=1 . Change that to fullscreen=0 , then also add a line under [Graphics Options] (the same section you just changed fullscreen in) that says AllowWindowedMode=1 . Hope this helps! If it still doesn't work, change your compatibility too.

I now experience this problem since today, never had it before that, been playing it for 2-3 days and now the game will hang at the lucas art logo most of the time (sometimes also after the second of third logo). I have to keep trying to load it and after many tries, it will finally load. Using windows 7 ultimate x64. I also have some other very annoying bugs, like I can't control my main character after every fight (still can move the side characters tough), I have to quick save and then quick load in order to restore the movement key. This game is buggy as hell!

Turn on V-Sync if you're having trouble moving. That should fix it. And for logo problems, try turning off the cutscenes.

I don't want to turn off the cutscenes... I want to enjoy the whole game.. ;) I just tried yesterday to play the game in XP compatibility mode and it's really much better. Not all the bugs are fixed, but it's definitively better. The moving problem has stopped at least. Now it's just a matter of starting the game. It does start, but it always take a couple of tries. It tend to be more stable if I just leave the logo animation running and not try to skip it. But it's not a 100% solution.

Beside that I must say that I quite enjoy this old game so far, I didn't expect it to be hooked to it easily like that, it was a good deal on steam for just 2.50$, so I can't really complain that i cost me a fortune.

Yeah i played this for 7 hours perfectly fine (windows 7 64 bit) but now it crashes after lucas arts screen. I put it on XP compatability but the camera kept turning.. and i couldnt use the mouse to click on anything?

Have you tried to turn on the V-Sync like it was mentionned by avethewave?

Why the ♥♥♥♥ do you want a refund of $5 for an almost 9 year old game? There aren't any updates coming soon.

The easiest way to correct this is to delete the 'biologo.bik' and 'leclogo.bik' files from the game's movies directory. This should stop the game from crashing upon start up and enable you to play the game without disabling movies period. This worked for me on a Windows 7 64-bit modern rig.

If that doesn't work, try disabling movies period. You shoud still be able to play the game perfectly, but you just wont see the cutscenes. You may need to do this in the config file.
