Please Help - Game Crashes After escaping the Leviathan

I am so sad because my game crashes right after the gun turret fight the occurs after you escape the Leviathan (where you first confront Malak). Just as the cut scene starts playing a window pops up saying the game is not responding. I've have done some troubleshooting like minimizing the screen, removing movie files from the swkotor file on my hard drive and lowering the graphics quality. Nothing seems to work. The game has crashed before for me but one of the above has usually been able to fix it.

I'm running the game on a windows 7 acer computer with an ati radeon hd 5450 graphics card.

Any further tips would be greatly appreciated.

One thing I tried, in addition to all the usually suggested troubleshooting was to take off some of the clothes and weaponry of both of the characters before leaving the Leviathan. Before trying this, I noticed that after I exited to the hangar and the video starts, only my character, not Carth, ran to the ship in the hangar. The game would always crash after the turret fight after this. However, after taking off both of the characters clothes and weapons before entering the hangar, I noticed that Carth ran with my Character toward the ebon hawk in the video that followed. My guess is the glitch has something to do with this. My strange solution at least helped me get past it.

When you enter the hangar, do you just see your own character in the video, or are both you and carth running to the ebon hawk?

Stripping Carth is enough, no need to do it for both

For me stripping both characters didn't work. The error message still crashed my game. I had to strip ONLY Carth to be able to progress in the game and not get the game crashing error.

Thanks a million. It's annoying that one of the more important cutscenes in the game has Carth and I in our underwear, but at least I can play.

Can't progress unless you strip your characters clothes off

This...actually worked for me. That's hilarious. I went through that ship fight about six times, even got rid of movies, because I hoped that would fix it. And that was it. It was stripping Carth's clothes off.
