(Spoilers) Stuck on Taris, need money
I'm playing KotoR for the first time. I generally want to play this character light side, or at least not dark side, so I'm avoiding the more hostile dialog options. The problem is that being light side seems to cost a lot of money, and I currently have less than 1,500 credits.

I've already killed and looted pretty all the hostiles in all the available zones (including the Vulkar base).

I've rescued Bastilla. I've completed all the quests in the Undercity section and most of the ones in the Lower City as well. I've already fought and beaten all the gladiators. I need to leave Taris, and I have the quest from Canderous about infiltrating the Sith base.

However, to infliltrate the base I need to buy the droid that costs 2,000 credits. My attempt at persuasion to lower the price failed.

I bought expensive gear before I realized I needed credits, and now I can't find any way to earn more credits. (I arranged a death match against Bendak Starkiller, but apparently the actual match doesn't start until something else happens. I tried and failed the "dancer" quest in the Lower City cantina.)

I don't know what to do, and I'm not willing to go dark side with this character. Suggestions, immediate spoilers, or hints all welcome and appreciated.

Thanks.

There will be plenty of time to undo the damage of one threaten if that's what you're worried about. It won't change the end game if you threaten the droid shop owner.

Also keep trying. Persuasion checks are based on your roll compared to difficulty. You could have just not rolled the right number. Put on any gear that ups your Persuasion.

Finish up the quests in the Lower City. Don't do the light side extra points for declining rewards. You need money. There will be other places to get light side points to max that out.

If you still need money:

Sell the gear that you don't need. How many ranged weapons do you have? You should have 2 ranged characters currently (Carth and Mission). You'll have 2 more before you leave Taris. 2 of them will be best with double pistols (Carth and next new character you add to your party). 2 will use rifles (Mission and the last new character you'll add to your party on Taris, this character will come with his own rifle to use). So you really only need to have 4 pistols and 1 rifle in your inventory. PIck the best pistols and rifle and hand them out to your party. Sell the rest.

Do the same with your melee weapons.

Then take a look at your armor. You need 4 sets of armor for the party you'll leave Taris with. Zaalbar can't wear armor and you'll be picking up a droid before you finish with Taris. So make sure you keep any droid items you may want to use on that character.

Then sell off other things that you don't use.

Thank you.

I sold things to scrape together 1500 credits, and then tried the persuasion option again and passed it.
