STAR WARS™ Knights of the Old Republic™

Game won't finish installing
So, I bought the game this morning while it was on sale. After about half an hour of installation, it said 99% (2.2 GB/2.2 GB)the download started to queue and un-queue. The download bar at the bottom of the window flashed on and off, and when I went into the download manager it would turn from the "almost done" phase to a blank phase with 0kb/0kb. It continues to download something, it says it's going at around 700kb/s, but it's supposed to be done. This is the second time I've tried to install the game, with the same problem the first time. I'm running windows 8 on a Lenovo Ideapad y580. Does anyone know what's happening?

Too many people are accessing the servers for downloads at this time. The two options you have available are: Patience, the game will download it just needs time. The other fix that is working for some, not all, people is exiting and restarting the Steam Client.

Cletus, this happened to me a couple days ago (it was during school and business hours too). Keep in mind, it was for swkotr II, but it was doing the exact same thing as you describe.

After I let it do that FOREVER on the first download, I read on another post to delete local game cache and download again. So I did that and on the 2nd download, same exact thing. While it kept doing that, I "think" I exited steam, restarted, verified game cache then just hit the play button and it immediately stopped. So if you see the play button on your kotor page while its doing that, maybe just hit that first and see if it downloads one last blip then hopefully it all looks fine and works.

PS - I don't know if it matters but I think it said it was going to download 3.4GB total for kotor II but the 2nd download showed like 6+GB downloaded - maybe that just was adding the first download and 2nd though. Good luck!

Due to the sale plenty of people have gotten these games, so the servers are overloaded. But what I did was switch my download server from the U.S. seattle one to poland, which got me slightly slower speeds (2.5MB), but it was consistent and worked great for me. Hope this helps!!

Also something I forgot to mention, you can change your download region in the settings, under the download tab.
