Still no fix for Griff?
Honestly, after all this time I figured SOMEBODY would have found a fix for Mission's brother quest; I am too far into the game at this point to warrant starting a new game (and any past saves would be too early as well since I did Tat as soon as I got off Dantooine).

Isn't the fix staring us in the face? Couldn't bioware resolve this issue simply, and could have years ago? I mean, it seems to me that the only thing making this quest impossible for people like me is that we have opened the door in the Sand People enclave - couldn't a module fix, forcing the door to be closed until triggered another time or something - fix it? Or at least some global parameters forcing Griff to be at his (for sake of spoilers) *next location.

I have tried editing tat_griffport and tat_griffgreeta as well as the griff prisoner numerical value (and the quest as well) in the save editor and have not been able to force griff to the *next location - which I read on a guide that it would work.

Has anyone ever found a fix for this?

*Heck, a simple fix could just be adding in a quest paremeter such that the door to the place Griff is does not open until you reach that point of the quest - hasn't bioware done that with other quests?

The KSE fix does work. I just got used it to fix my savegame. Here's what I did (spoilers warning).

1. I talked to Lena on Kashyyyk. She will approach you if you have Mission in your party as you venture out from your ship in Dantooine or Kashyyyk.

2. I asked the female Czerka rep in the Czerka offices on Tatooine about Griff. She will tell you that Griff was abducted by Sand People.

3. I travelled to the Sand People base with HK-47 and Mission. I spoke to the Sand People chieftain and he confirmed that I can take the prisoner. Since I had previously opened that gate, Griff was not there.

4. I saved my game, alt-tabbed out to KSE, edited the last savegame and set both variables to 1 (tat_griffport, tat_griffgreeta) under Globals > Booleans.

5. I reloaded the game, went to the map screen and used the menu to return to the Ebon Hawk. Since I had Mission in my party at the time, I was approached by Griff as soon as I had transported to the spaceport. Griff and Mission have a heated exchange, then Griff is available in the Czerka offices where he gives out the Tach gland quest as usual.

Odd, I thought I had tried that before...

This 'mission' is bugged as hell but I got a solution. After your Jedi training, I've already spoken to Mission about her brother, if that helps at all. I first went to Tatioone, spoke to the woman in the Czerka office to get a license and bought HK at the droid shop. Outside, I helped the trapped guy surrounded by droids, killed a few Sandpeople to get suits and also killed the group waiting at the entrance to the next area, BUT I did not speak to the miners around that central machine.

In the next area, I thought to put on the sand people suits and to go into their base, didn't walk to close to anyone and did not trigger anything. When I went in, everyone was aggressive and I got the idea that I did something wrong. So I reloaded just before I went into their base and everyone was still mellow.

I read Andrei's comment and thought it will be better to trigger Mission's quest by speaking to Lena BEFORE I go in. So I traveled back to Dantooine, took Mission and Zalbar as companions, and 5 seconds after I left the ship, Lena approached us. After the dialogue, I went back to Tatooine, but couldn't fast travel back to the Sandpeople base, so I had to schlep all the way through the desert again (I took HK and Mission). This time I did approach the miners, but in regular clothes, and fought all the Sandpeople attacking them. I didn't really think much of it but this is where it gets interesting.

I got to the base without problems, saved outside, and quit the game. When I reloaded my save outside the door, the turrets immediately shot everyone dead except the main character, I guess this is what someone else was referring to, the miners' fight can bug your game, so stay away from them If you haven't fought them yet. Anyway, took my chance with only the main character alive and walked in, and everyone is friendly. From here on be friendly and eventually in dialogue you can ask Griff to be released, walked to him, (don't steal anything) and he and Mission have words.. afterward, she stalks off and you can offer him 200 credits to get back to town, which he takes and run. I walked to the outside, transit back to Ebon Hawk, and waiting for us was Griff at the Czerka office with the next job.

TL:DR, stay away from the miners at the mining rig in the first desert area, make sure you've spoken to Lena, she won't approach you on the first visit to Dantooine, you need to travel back to Dantooine after visiting anywhere else and after you have spoken to Mission about her brother. Try to do Mission's related things first before trying or saying anything else to Sandpeople, things go horribly wrong if you say or do something inappropriate.

Lena will approach you on Dantooine the first time you visit. Upon arriving, speak to the council and watch the vision sequence. You'll be returned to the Ebon Hawk and Bastila will be unavailable to bring while the council deliberate.

Take Mission and whoever else. Talk to her about Taris' destruction, then talk to her about Griff and Lena. Turn around and go back inside the Ebon Hawk. Go back out, and take her with you again. Walk forward, Lena spawns. Speak with Mission again after talking with Lena. Once you arrive on Tatooine, speak to the Cerka Corp. Rep. and ask about Griff.

Thanks, this worked for me as well.

What do you do if the boolean variables aren't there in the save editor? I tired editing the files with the KOTOR tool, but the sand people turned hostile.
