GUI invisible? Resolution problem?
I have nearly-- NEARLY-- fixed this game to run on my 64 bit Vista OS... but although I can get it to run without crashing or hanging on startup now, in windowed mode, the GUI/HUD is invisible! Also, I cannot change the in-game resolution: the list to pick from on the ingame options menu is blank, and when I access it, the game crashes.

The bummer about this is that I can't select Trask Ulgo by clicking on his portrait to unlock the door to get out of the first room of the game, because his portrait, the health bars, and the buttons at the top do not generate! Labels like 'footlocker' and the esc menu do seem to generate.

I haven't encountered any thread with this problem before and I have almost gotten this to work on my machine! Using the widescreen fix program doesn't work either-- it doesn't generate any new GUI or change the resolution at all.

Here are some pictures of my problem ingame:

No GUI of any sort, portraits not present, no upper buttons, etc. Item labels and cursor still present:

Going into the options menu and trying to mess with the screen resolution:

After pressing "ok" and there being no options, the game immediately crashes. I know there's a conflict with my newer nvidia graphics driver probably but still...

A reminder of my specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate
DirectX version 11.
Intel Core2 Duo, t6670 @2.20GHz
nvidia geforce 9600M GS
Driver Version 307.83

I am running it in windows XP compatibility mode, on one core only, in windowed mode, etc. etc. all of the fixes I can find. Here's a copy of my swkotor config file:

Did you try to change resolution in kotor.ini? You have them under [Graphics Options]
Width=1024
Height=768

I think so before, but it didn't do anything...
Meta May 3, 2014 @ 5:29am
Even after changing the kotor.ini resolution to something normal like 800 x 600, Trask's portrait does not appear...

Hide ingame GUI is set a 0. I don't know what it is, but I would try to change it. (Dont forget to copy/paste!)

Here's my INI again, but changing Hide Ingame GUI from 0 to 1 doesn't change anything, even if I start a new game.

Change the GUI back and validate the game files. If that dosn't work, redownload the game.
Deep May 3, 2014 @ 4:16pm
You do not need to run this game in windows mode. That is just a temp fix that corrects no underlaying problems. You cannot change resolution while in windowed mode. You need to be fullscreen to do so.

Download the latest DirectX 9.0c driver. Set the compatibility to Windows XP Service Pack 2 on the launcher and game shortcut. Then change the intro advertisement files to a different name. Your problem is now fixed.

I can't install the directx 9.0c from this link (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 ) because it demands that I be using microsoft windows 98, 2000, or xp to run it.
Meta May 5, 2014 @ 1:44pm
I uninstalled and reinstalled the game and I'm back to the problems I was having before I started trying to tamper with the files: it won't open at all now.

go to options 1 step above quit, goto feedback and change font size to small. this solved the problem for me
