How to beat Marl in the ring on Taris?
I can't beat him. I've tried rifles, pistols, and swords. Does anyone know how to beat this guy?

If you're having trouble, try using adrenals. Alacrity if you're using blasters, Strength for melee, and Stamina is good for either. Also there's no rule against using medkits and shields if you need them. Other than that my advice is to go do some more quests and level up a bit then try again.

If you've still got stuff left to do on Taris I would recommend going and doing that and doing Marl and Bendak just before you leave. The fight will be a lot easier if you level up.

This and what the other guy said, if your a dex character run away from him use adrenals and try to get a shot in if your a soldier use strength adrenals and fight him in melee.

you could also cheat or turn yourself into a jedi or give yourself a better weapon using an item code.

Don't forget that you can use one item each turn from the Equipment Menu without it cancelling out an attack (if you use items from the main UI, it takes up a slot in your attack queue - using the item from the Equipment Menu screen will both put the item to use immediately and NOT change your attack queue, but you won't be able to use any other items until the next round). Use that to heal yourself up when you need it without losing attack opportunities.
grenades

see what you do is a silly long tactic, you first can use one maybe two grenades on him at the begin of the round since he uses a blade he will walk towards you making grenades useless now, so unless you have had serious exp grinding you wont be able beat him 1v1 so you instead switch to blasters run away from him shoot at him and he will follow you to attack you with his blade but as soon as he gets close to you you run away from him again and then turn around shot him again then run away again you want to do this around and around the Fighting RIng but some times if you run too far away from him he will switch to a blaster if he does do this switch to a blade and attack him with that then he'll switch to a blade then you run away again :). (This works for the other Duelests too)

Wow, I didn't know that. Good tip.

Well how i do it is doing similer thing to the guy above, except i equip a melee weapon and rush him and use flurry, but just before the animation ends run away, you will still do damage but not allow him to attack, he chases, go back do flurry and run again, rinse and repeat and ifyou do it right he will never do damage to you :)

grenades and mines- specifically anything that stuns/traps him so he can't run after you. (if you think hes hard at your level try doing it while trying to leave taris at lvl 2...)

"doesn't work once you throw a grenade he runs to u so that means he is away from the grenades that you through. Also the run away and fire tactic does not work since he can hit you further away then you think and he ONE SHOTS ME.....

You could also make sure you fully upgrade the Prototype Vibroblade. It's a good melee weapon before lightsabers

Other than that, try stims

so why don't the guns work?
cerberusiv Aug 23, 2018 @ 6:53am
Guns are deliberately underpowered compared to melee weapons. Otherwise no-one would survive long enough as a jedi to complete the game.

What I do in the duelling ring is take out the first two, Duncan and Gerlon straight away. They are pretty easy with melee weapons (prototype vibroblade). Then I do most of the quests (up to getting the launch codes). By that point I have the Echani light armour (upgraded) and the prototype vibroblade (also upgraded) and usually the feats to make using two weapons viable so can also use Mission's vibroblade. At that stage Ice and Marl are straightforward and even Twitch isn't difficult (with the gun users a concussion or sonic grenade and rush them works well).

Bendak is a lot more serious. Run around until he runs out of grenades. You should have activated your best energy shield and a stack of stims from the inventory screen whilst the game is paused at the start of the fight. Once he has no more grenades throw every plasma grenade you have (you should have saved them for this fight. There are some in the loading bay, lower level of the Vulkar base). Then melee weapons until he goes down.

Job done, lots of XP and a nice bonus too.
