I cannot get Flawless Widescreen + Kotor to work on Windows 10
Back before windows 10 released, I used this guide to set it all up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6QE4WB1y14 [1]

I tried following this same guide on windows 10, but when I load up kotor with Flawless Widescreen running in the background, the game doesn't launch into a tiny window like normal and when I go to graphics options, I don't have any added resolutions or anything like I used to when using FWS+Kotor.

What am I doing wrong? Why is my Kotor launching in 1280 resolution with flawless widescreen running?

My steam instllation is in the default spot in the C drive, I honestly have no idea what to do at this point. so frustrating...

Gonna try with gpu scaling off or on now and preserve screen aspect ratio to keep it.

It has this issue without fws as well.

I get that this is an old thread, but none of the recommended solutions worked for me when I encountered this today, so I went so far as trying uninstalling and reinstalling the app. What I noticed is in the steam local install folder, after uninstalling, a folder still remained called "override." The lmod on the folder didn't change during the re-install, so I suspected this folder was created by FWS. After reinstalling, I opened FWS and followed the start -> change resolution -> quit -> restart -> return to resolutions to pick my actual resolution. The reinstall didn't fix the problem, so I deleted the override folder. After deleting it and restarting FWS, I followed the start -> change resolution -> quit -> restart -> return to resolutions, and the list had been appropriately populated. Checked the local install directory and the override folder was newly created.

For those still running into this problem, try closing KOTOR & FWS, deleting the override folder in the local install dir (see this thread for finding that dir: https://steamcommunity.com/app/32370/discussions/0/1368380934249570730/ ), and starting FWS & KOTOR again.

override is just where mods for the game goes, FWS is a .exe

FWS is tricky to get to work, sometimes you have to start and restart the game and FWS many times, sometimes it works the first time.

i'm not saying your override wasn't the issue, but i don't see how since FWS is an .exe and doesn't put anything in the override folder.

I'll post here in case anyone is still searching for this:

To get FWS to finally work correctly I opened the properties the for swkotor.exe to run compatibility mode with WinXP Service Pack 2, selected to run as Admin, then, I clicked "Change High DPI Settings". It will pop open a new window; in that window I checked the option (top check box) that says to use it to fix scaling problems. Within that section is a dropbox and I selected to "use the DPI that is set when I log on to windows".

Next, I clicked the bottom check box for High DPI override and set scaling to be performed by the application in the dropbox.

I spent many long and frustrating hours with many different methods to get this to work, so I hope this will help others.

Deactivate Frame Buffer Effects, this will make the game run on Win10, however certain in-game FX wont show, such as cloaking field effect when you stealth.

Honestly, FWS isn't recommended for this game anyway, because it can lead to memory leaks and also corupted save files.

I'd recommend WSGF instead. You patch the exe, and copy paste the new Hud files and you're done.

Use universal screen patcher instead, Patch the exe and you are done, permanently, no need for additional software just to play 2 games.

Just tried this, and while it did work, what ended up happening is that the window in which the game was played stayed tiny, and the surrounding gray accent grew to match the size of my screen. Is that what's supposed to happen?

The main menu did that for me, but once in the game it was true fullscreen.
